On the way to town today we spotted a different locomotive as one of three hauling a freight consist past Palmer Lake. The two in the lead were the usual BNSF's, but the third was a brand new diesel, one of those super-heavy jobs (I'm not a diesel fan, after all...) respendent in gleaming red, black and yellow with "KANSAS AND SOUTHERN" on it's sides.

Something new for this part of Colorado!

Took me a moment to realize you were talking about a Kansas City Southern engine in the revived Southern Belle scheme.

Whatever it was and whatever it was doing heading south on UP rails heavily utilized by BNSF, it was very classy...for a diesel. :cool:
