weekend modeling plans?

I know it's only thursday, but it is never to early to start thinking about the weekend.

I've got a bunch of household stuff to do, but being 110+ outside, I am going to have to spend some time inside in the A/C. My goal is to cut and install some more plywood subroadbed, and hopefully get that part of my layout construction finished! But, because some of the subroadbed crosses the track below, I have to get the lower track laid and tested first. If I can get that far, then I can start more scenery over the holiday weekend!

We will be firing the 1:1 steam traction engines to get them ready for our threshing show in 2 weeks.

I'll be out of town for much of the weekend (been really busy for the past week)...but I hope to cut a bunch of carlines for paycar roof ver 2.1

Otherwise, I have all the parts cut for two additional sets of freight car trucks (a pair for my CC flatcar and a pair for my South Park 26' flatcar), need to paint my 26' flat car and add the brake gear, need to put the roof on my otherwise complete CC ore car (and paint it), need to add underbody details to my DSP&P stock car. These shouldn't take more than a couple hours. I also need to do a little bit of work on my mogul.

Another busy weekend for me. Taking my kids to an independent leauge baseball game Friday night (free fireworks after). Visiting my Mom (cutting down a tree) on Saturday. Sox/Cubs game Sunday afternoon/night. Might have some time Sunday morning to finish my Magic Pan Bakery. I'm about 75% done with the assembly.

Probably a visit to the museum layout to check on train operation. Higher temps are playing havoc with the track alignment and then there is the track cleaning and ongoing scenery work.

Sunday - at work. Rerailing 1000 yards of track on the down fast at Cheddington (England)

Hah! I had no plans to work on anything, train-wise, this weekend, but of course, when you're retired, everyday is "the weekend".
I ended up in the garage, though, with some copper pipe and some lead, making a new sand dome for this loco:

And since I was feelin' so energetic, I worked on a new superstructure (cab and boiler) for this Bachmann Ten Wheeler - if I'm successful, I'll do two of them:

Hey, I want to go see that.... I'll leave my "kids" to worry about taking their families to see it, me, all I have is my wife to go with...:thumb:

Keep your eyes peeled for the Pizza Planet delivery truck from the Toy Story movies:thumb::thumb::thumb:

No doubt jewels to behold when you're done with them, Doc:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Bob, although who knows how long my enthusiasm for either of these projects will last.:-D I'm also doing a major shift in my locos and rolling stock, trying to get rid of stuff that doesn't fit into my late '30s era, so I'm also amassing quite a bit of rolling stock that will need to be built or rebuilt, and painted and lettered. I'm certainly getting lots of mileage out of this hobby, although sometimes I feel like I'm getting nowhere. ;):p:-D

Modeling plans this weekend? Does painting the walls of my train room count? When it’s done, I can put my layout back on it’s shelf again. But it is summer, the weather is fine and sitting out in the garden relaxing and enjoying the sunshine is very distracting ... I guess, this does not count as "modeling", does it? :eek:ops::eek:ops:

Wayne, looking forward to see your fantastic rolling stock.

Well, Kurt, in a roundabout way, I think that it can be considered "modelling-related": many times, a break can renew your vigour for a project, and sometimes, that "idle" time can let you see solutions to modelling problems whose solutions weren't apparent when you were up-to-your-neck in the project.

Wayne, thank you for this very kind view on my laziness :mrgreen:sign1:mrgreen:
