hi guys!
here is another little update! I finished the nacelles, the "wings" and the hull of both Nebulas, put the sensordome on each version and violá, here are the pics!

the first is the U.S.S. Phoenix:

Each model has already approximately 200 - 250 parts in this condition! The saucer has also over 100 parts! That makes then together nearly 700 parts , which must be built!

and here is the U.S.S. Sutherland:

and here is a size comparison! I scaled the U.S.S. Grissom (from Martin Saenger) to 1/1700! it is the tiny model in the middle

Not to bash the Sutherland Model that Col. Kurtz was nice enough to send me, but this project looks lightyears ahead in detail when compared to it. Awesome work D-Whale!

I know it's off topic, but how does one rescale a model ? I really like Zousho's models, but my sausage fingers are too big to make them in the scale that they are now. Of course I'd ask permission first, but I'd really like to know.

1. you don´t need the permission from the designers for scaling!
2. if the file is a PDF-file you can scale the file only with the properties of your printer! if it is a JPG-file (or an other pic-file) you need Adobe photoshop, Corel Photopaint or Gimp (thats only free) for changing the size of this "pic"!

back to the model!
i have a problem with this model: the hull is not accurate! I used the pics from Ex-Astris for the construction! but there is the back of the hull a little bit "fat"! After I was finished, I found another picture of a plastic model! F**K!!!!wall1 That could I no more change!

Thanks for the help D-Whale. I don't think the differences between the model and the additional reference picture are critical. Obviously one of your references differs from the other, but it doesn't make the one you chose wrong.

Not only that but consider the pylon above it... one secondary hull has the Torpedo housing and the other secondary hull has the sensor housing. So your model could just use a slight adjustment on the secondary hull. No biggie.

Keep up the good work. This is probably my favorite Federation ship from TNG perhaps of all the shows.

From the reference pics that I have, the Phoenix type has the fat rear hull, and the one of the other triangular pod types has the thinner rear hull (Bonchune), although seems that Sutherland and Farragut remains with the Phoenix hull, as they were modifications of the original model.

So, your Nebulas are accurate for Phoenix, Farragut and Sutherland, at least!!

the Bonchune has the smallest, but the Sutherland and the Phoenix are also smaller then the pic show! today i found the reason: the blueprints are from the prototyp, the U.S.S. Nebula:

I'm kind of surprised that we don't have a stickied thread with links to design tips and strategy threads. I think there were some downloadable PDF's though on the subject.
