Morning all. 43 and sunny this morning. It's usually raining near Memorial Day - volunteered to serve as video director at church tonight - they're changing the mid-week services so this is one of my last chances to play. Go get those fish, Brutus! CSX, are those paper buildings in (roughly) O scale?

Good morning folks

It was 53 and threatening rain as I head out. I figured something is coming since our one cat was acting squirrelly this morning. She predicts weather better than a weatherman. Whenever a storm is coming see crouches low and tends to curl up in corners. High today will be 63 F.

I added the brake platform to the P2K stock car but not the supports. I think I can live with out them. With some weathering I think the car will look OK. Next problem is the couplers. In the kit they supplied the couplers with the plastic spring not the ones with the metal spring. On the recent P1K composite gondolas I got they had the metal springs, so you would think that the more detailed model would have the better couplers. Also the couplers are riding low. I am not sure if it is the couplers themselves or the height of the stock car.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 73 and cloudy. The expected high today is 90 with a chance of thunderstorms.

My next door neighbor and I went to Wal-Mart last night so he could buy a computer. He wanted someone along who knows about them so he wouldn't get stuck with a high priced slow poke. He got a Dell Dimension system with an AMD Sempron processor. We set it up last night and got everything he wanted on it installed. I was impressed! That thing is quick, quick, especially after I dropped kicked the Norton Antivirus into the next state and installed AVG 8.0. I finally finished with the setup just before two this morning. It's not a bad system for around $500.

Today's Weather for:

Yes they were close to O scale as far as the doors go the height of each floor on the house and the masonic lodge were what looked good to me. Not only can you set it to what scale you want there is a streach and compress tool to allow for a custom look to the windows and doors.

Evening all,

Picked up the 5 year old for the weekend and we ran trains for about an hour. She was fascinated with the camera in the other room that shows up on the TV. Then she discovered that when she blew the whistle it came out of the TV speakers, man did we have sound. Of course she likes to use the mike in DCS as well, she is learning all the tricks. Tomorrow we are off to the PA RR Museum, the Strasburg RR, the Cho-Cho Barn and the Toy Train Museum. That should just about fill the day with a few stops to eat along the way.

Jeffrey, I see you have the same affection for Norton that I do. wall1

CSXect, Gas here is at 3.85, at my daughters an hour away it was 3.95 today. Have not seen it over 4.00 yet, but I'm sure it will happen.

Really weird weather today, bright sun, high wind and rain all at the same time. Supposed to settle down a little tomorrow and over the weekend. I hope. :thumb:

GOOD EVENING ALL
Another March day in May. sun came out about two hours before sunset.
I feel better today, so I helped my SIL pour a strip of cement along his driveway. He had done the prep and framing, I just helped when the truck came. I'm going to the train store tomorrow but don't know why, I guess just to get out awhile.
CSXect- I am happy they found some work for you, hopefully they will keep you working. nity-nite to all......S.J.

Good night, Sir James! Sorry so late, been getting kids stuff ready for their trip to KC tomorrow to visit Mammaw and Pappaw. Chewy and I will be bach'ing it. Working on Saturday. Will have plenty of time to run some trains though!

Jeffrey, nice collection - see lots of those Santa Fe's at the yard in downtown St. Louis, just in front of the building where I work. Glad you got that computer working and killed Norton - never again for me, they had their last chance and blew it.

Wow, bed time. Made two trips east in less than 24 hours on $3.89 gasoline. 4 Runner does good even at 80 mph. Tired. Had Chamber reception to attend and then feed all the birds and animals. Now I will sleep good. Fingers crossed as nothing on schedule except what I want to do at home. Sleep tight.

Wait a minute. I came to zealot as a break from computers.wall1wall1wall1

Sorry for the side-track.

Have fun.

Got my latest CTT yesterday, great pic's of some of our very photogenic [and clever] members of the forum [Chief, Laz & Marty], Legacy certainly daunts me, I'll stick with the wotsit that came with my set, I only work one engine in steam on my tidgy pike any way.
Spring Holiday this weekend, it'll probably rain on the poor pleb's. Sodds law rules KO!

AVG 8.0 is antivirus, antispyware, antiadware, firewall and much more. Best of all, it's FREE!

Good morning.

We have a pleasant 72 degrees here in the Sportsman's Paradise with cloudy skies. The expected high will be in the low 90's with a small chance of thunderstorms.

Not much going on today. I have a doctors appointment at 10am and a birthday dinner to attend this evening. I should be able to get some work done on my park scene in between.

Good morning folks

It was 53 and sunny on the way in to work this morning. Traffic was light this morning. I guess a lot of folks decided to make it a four day weekend. I’ll most likely take a half day myself. High today is supposed to be 70 F. By Memorial Day it will be 82 with no rain in the forecast all weekend. Yesterday was weird weather-wise. We had times where the sun was shinning and it was pouring rain, yet no clouds seemed to be around. The wind, however, was blowing pretty hard, so I suspect the clouds were near-by and the rain was being blown on top of us.

I started setting up the next photo session and cleaned a few things up on the layout. I helped my son repair a couple of his cars that had broken couplers.

This holiday weekend will be busy. Tonight we have my son’s guitar lesson and the official opening of a new exhibit at my wife’s work at the museum. Tomorrow we will go with the Girl Scouts to the Devon Horse Show. Sunday will be a trip to the beach at Wildwood Crest, NJ. Monday I figure yard work and some relaxing.

I may try to build another of the P2K Mather stock car kits. I would also like to begin weathering the gondolas sitting on the workbench and any of the stock cars I get done. I do need to make a run to the LHS as I have only four Kadee #5 couplers left.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Grey and cool here - what a surprise. Got the MTH water column - and resisted buying a whole lot more - yesterday. It's really a little gem - I didn't know it moved around so and is adjustable. Will have to pick a spot to install. Gas was 4.17 yesterday - 4.21 today... :(

Morning!

Doug: Water column looks like a great accessory! You'll be buying the sanding tower soon as well.

CSXect: Great news on the bosses keeping you employed!

Jeffery: How are your feet? Continued prayers for healing.

Bride has 4-day weekend...We're just back from breakfast!

Bride & friend has decided to rollerblade a half-marathon Saturday... She hasn't been on skates in 5-years...half marathon. I told her we should take the kids out and she can practice before Saturday...She said she needed a nap. Good thing Saturday will be an organized event.

Park this afternoon, try kite flying, rollerblading, and 3-yo on the bicycle.

Good Morning -
WOW have we had some weather! We got it all in one day, actually a few hours. Got the whole years supply at once. Now when you talk about variation - Started off partly cloudy, then the wind picked up. Within a 70 mile radius we had: 1 fire, snow fall, 2 tornados, hail, downpour of rain, mudslides. Only thing missing is a reportable earthquake. A couple of pictures;
Two Tornadoes, about 30 miles east of us, minimial damage no one hurt.

Train cars turned over as a result of tornado and high winds, Chief these tracks are along the road you took when you went to San Diego from Palm Springs. (Just south of the airbase) The cars are all box cars and were parked on a siding, 8 cars)

The winds have been very high everywhere, in my area probably only about 40.

Then throw a little snow in, Big Bear, about 40 miles north of train derailment.

Then add some heavy rain, it was raining an inch in 10 minutes, so everything immediately flooded, and couldn't drain quick enough. This is about 5 miles north of us.

And of course with the rain we get mudslides. These are about 20 miles east of us, same place where the fires where last fall.

Below is a very popular steak house, we go to. This shot is of a patio area. People were having lunch, and heard the rumble, and a wall of mud and debris came down the canyon. They all headed to the street and where joined shortly by the tables and carts from the patio. Mud entered the building and was 8" deep.

A number of buildings have had the roof cave in as a result of the water.
Now here is the bad part! Suppose to have a reoccurrance of the same thing today!
Wife and Chris are in Sandy Eggo, and will be coming back today, they should be driving back in the early afternoon, and all this weather is about 20 to 30 miles inland, and they will be coming along the coast line. So hopefully they will miss it.
