Good morning folks

Where is spring? It was 47 F when I left the house and starting to rain. Today’s high may reach 59 F with more rain.

The wife and I ran out to Wal-mart last night. She ordered a laminator mainly for the stuff she has been doing for scouts. Lately it seems like many of the projects involve doing things outdoors and she needs charts and pictures for the boys to work with. Laminating them should help protect them from the environment and make them reusable.

I opened a P2K B&O Mather Stock Car Time-saving kits. Who ever packed the kit was in love with tape. I was afraid of breaking something just trying to get the parts out of the box. It took me close to 20 minutes of delicately cutting and removing tape along with tissue paper to uncover everything.

I hope everybody has a good day.

A Pleasant Good Morning to All
We have sun and 50s this am, 65 this afternoon. I did not get much sleep, kept waking myself up, noise from the congestion. My train friend says no new items at the store except a few preorder things that were for customers. The prices are getting so high I find myself looking for the closeouts. And we don't even want to talk about food or gas. Take care all and good thoughts to those on the mend......S.J.
I noticed I mentioned the store last nite so just skip that part.

Morning all. Grey and cool today - maybe a little rain. A long day with class tonight. Good news about Chris' recovery. I love old Model railroading books too - just found a Annual from the 60s in my favorite Anglophile bookstore. Beautiful modelling. CSX, isn't it the other way around - the Plymouth looks like Thomas' narrow gauged friends. LOL ;)

X-rays reveal that my left foot is joining the Charcot parade. The x-ray shows that the top of the arch is beginning to sag, not a good sign, and an ulcer has opened up on the bottom of the big toe. As for the right foot, the ulcer on it is healing nicely. It's closed up ten millimeters since the last visit. It's down to 28mmx28mm. I have to go back Friday.

Greetings, all.

Jeffrey, I had to google for 'Charcot'. That's nasty. You take care, now.

Here in the UK the weather is crazy also. Mostly it's sunny, but we have some throwbacks to winter. It snowed in April for the first time I can remember in about 50 years. Today it's really sunny, and I'm sitting indoors at the computer with the curtains drawn to keep the reflections off the screen. You don't have to be British to be perverse - just human.

Just an update.....

Chris is getting released from the hospital today, he still has a tube in his chest which is to evacuate air. As a result of the X-Rays, he still has a small amount of leakage from the lung, but the Dr., is hoping that will close soon.

So they want him back on Thursday to determine whether or not surgery is required to "staple" the opening. The Dr indicated that if the lung forms the scar tissue to close the opening, that there is a 30% chance of a reoccurance within the 1 to 1 1/2 yrs. If they do the staple then that goes away. So we need to wait and see what happens on Thursday.

Overall, he is doing pretty good, has occassional pain just due to the presence of the "tube". Certainly, will be glad when get back to primarily being concerned about trains.

Evening!

Still trying to catch up with what's going on.

Don: Glad to hear Chris is doing better.

Jeffrey: Prayers for healing.

Sir James: Praying your conjestion is just due to all the junk falling out of the trees, and nothing serious.

GOOD EVENING
Thanks for the good thoughts guys. But it will go away in time. And I have been lucky about not being sick much through the winter. Biggest problem is trying to sleep. I did run a IC SD40 today after I relubed it.Same problem as the others dried lubriplate. I had four unopened tubes of it, that I tossed out. TTFNS.J.

Forgot to say welcome back, Kurt!

Sir James, just was reading on a woodworker site about using the lubriplate on a mitersaw. I wouldn't use it now that I've read about the problems you have had with it.

Yea Brutus I'm suprised at what it did as its been around for ages(lubriplate) my dad used it on his fishing tackle and thats what I remembered when I got it. I don't know what they did to change it but when the oily part dries out you have a sticky goo.no lube qualitys left in it.

Wow, Town Board ended at 9:30 and approved budget in one reading. Had a good Town Manager and Budget committee. Got heavy rain but no bad stuff. Frankie lives south of me about 40 miles as crow flies. He got hail for 15 minutes solid. No damage. Some west of us got wind damage and hail damage. All quite now. Off to bed.

Speaking of old books...I just ran across an old "How to Wire Your Model Railroad" book (Kalmbach) from 1959..!!! That makes it nearly 50 years old..!! My ol' man bought it when we were putting together out first layout. This one goes into the "precious" book collection....
Don...Hope Chris gets better soon...How did his lung puncture in the first place..?

All have a good night.

Good morning folks

It was 48 F and there was a strange orange ball in the sky this morning. We will never know what the ball is because it will be behind rain clouds by the afternoon. It has rained 15 out of 20 days in May. Our high temperature yesterday was 53 F which is 20 degrees below normal. High today will be 65 F.

Last night I had some modeling time but it was not relaxing as planned. I began assembling a P2K Mather Stock Car kit. I had some minor troubles with the doors but I quickly resolved the problem. Then I started on the roof and brakes. I managed to break one of the roof supports. The brake hardware would not stay in place and I had a devil of a time lining up the “chain”. When I finally did so I noticed I managed to break one of the stirrups. I repaired that and walked away from the car before I did something drastic to it. I still have the brake platforms to add and its supports. Since the supports are similar to the broken roof support I am not looking forward to adding them. I have three more of these kits and considering I have had trouble like this with every P2K kit I have built these will most likely be the last ones I purchase. I did call Walthers and left a message about the broken parts.

Tonight is my daughter’s flute lesson and we have the last Cub Scout Den Meetings of the 2007-08 Scouting year.

I hope everybody has a good day.
