Prayers for Chris.

Mikey, Don't know if any are RR Museum members, but I am sure there are some. As I get to know eveyone will probably find a lot with email/internet access. Dues are $20 a year with $50 initiation fee. Building is maintained, heated and electric paid for by Masonic Village, but membership is open to the public. I was told that one member contributed all of the Atlas track to convert the entire layout. About 1/2 the trains that were running were club members and the other 1/2 owned by the club. Main lines all have operating block signals designed by a retired signal maintainer.

Another rainy, cold day. Good one to stay inside.

We just spent a good portion of the day in the rain. We went to Dorney Park for Girl Scout Day. We spent over $100.00 for tickets so rain or shine we were going. We got there at 11:30 AM and it started to rain. It rained heavy until 2 PM. First thing we did was grab some food. The event was catered by the park; nothing fancy hot dogs and hamburgers. We then hit a couple of rides that were sheltered. At the last one we decided to go home but then the rain stopped and the sun came out. By 4 PM you would have never known it rained. Those that outlasted the rain got to enjoy the park and the rides since the lines were short since most people left during the storm. We just got home about 9:30 PM. I’ll have more to say tomorrow. Right now my foot is screaming pain and I need a shower before bed.

EVENING ALL
Oh a fun day at the park. Do you notice a lot of family gatherings end up in the rain as well. Sure seems that way. Not feeling well, appears to be a cold but mostly in the throat. Lots of coughing. Stay back from your screen I don't want you to catch it. No trains ran today, just rested on the couch, watched tv and then a nap. I went all winter without any major illness so I can't complain. Everyone get ready as Monday is on it's way,,,,S.J.

Good morning folks

It was 50 F chilly, and sunny this morning. Our high today will be 64 F. This has been an unusually cool spring. I think I saw somewhere that we were 7 degrees below average for the spring. I wonder how the rainfall amounts measure up because it seems like it has been raining more than normal.

This is recovery day. This turned out to be a brutal weekend. On Saturday we had a Scout outing at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. We managed to spend about 4 hours in the place. Afterwards we did the grocery shopping.

On Sunday we went to Dorney Park in Allentown, PA for a Girl Scout outing. Problem was the rain. We got there at 11:30 AM just as the rain started. It rained heavy until 2:30 PM. Since we paid over $100.00 and there were no refunds we had to go. Also since food was included first thing we did during the deluge was grab food. After that we did a couple rides that were sheltered. As we were waiting for the second ride and we decided that we were going to head home the rain stopped and the sun came out. We decided to stay for awhile. By 4:30 PM you could not tell it rained. The good thing was that the lines were short since many people left during the storm. My daughter got to ride three roller coasters, Thunder Hawk, Steel Force, and Talon which she rode twice. She dragged her brother, who is not a roller coaster fan, on Thunder Hawk, and Talon. He even volunteered to go with her the second time on Talon. She conned me into going on Steel Force. It was almost 7 PM by the time we left the park. When we got home I was exhausted and my foot was creaming in pain. Today it is a little sore along with the rest of the body.

Guess what, no modeling this weekend.

We will keep Chris in our prayers.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning !! (And how good it is!)

The Dr. came in after we left the hospital last night, and talked with Chris. As a result of the XRays that were done late yesterday he has a 90% restore of the lung and air evacuation of the space between the chest wall and lung. (As I understand it.) Chris was suppose to take his last final today, (1st yr of Jr. College), but I'm going to go by the school and talk with them about makeup. Probably will get an incomplete until he makes up the final, which is fine. Then stop by the hospital on my way to work.
I sure have learned alot about collapsed lungs! I thought it was a primarily a result of trama, or injury. But, apparently it is quite common for men between the ages of 20 and 44, especially if they are thin. (Chris is 6'2, weighs 170). That a cyst or bleb on the lung may rupture causing air to leak into the chest cavity. I thought too that it may have been a result of being in that "pit" area of the concert. But both he and his gf insist that they were not in the "mosh pit" where all the bumping goes on. That they were concerned about her and all the groping that goes on, and stayed outside of it. So I don't really know for sure, cause later he said he did get forced into it a couple of times, and did receive a "minor" blow to the chest. So who knows?? Im just thankful that when he had the attack on the way home while driving, he didn't get in an accident, or the attack didn't happen during the concert. It was a hot day and the gf almost fainted twice due to the heat, it was around the high 90's, and apparently there were "thousands" of people at this place.

Certainly brings back to reality very quickly, how EVERY day is a GIFT, and how quickly we seem to forget.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes, I'm know it helped!!!!

I REALLY appreciate all the sincere consideration you have all expressed it really helps, I've shared it with Chris, he was somewhat overwhelmed, and surprised. Thanks guys !!!!

:wave:Good morning, I mean afternoon here in columbus:mrgreen:

Glad to hear Chris is doing better:thumb:

As far as snakes go here in Ohio we have some rattlers but mostly copperheads and garden snakes, the closer you are to the Scioto river the greater your chance of finding one in your yard:mrgreen: We have skunks, possums and and racoons and the occasional deer running lose in our area as it was still a lot of farmers fields up untill a few years ago:eek:

Nice pic Jeffrey and glad no snakes. Doug, those coal cars and that plymouth set look great, congrats on your birthday gifts! Glad Chris is mending. Hope Sir James starts to feel better, as well. Tom, hope your foot heals up too.

Took truck to glass doctor, but you can still clearly see where the window as broken, so not impressed. I even took it in so that they could do a really good job "in the shop". Maybe because there were little fractures across the one break? It wasn't very big though.

Well, I have a short honey do list and then scouts tonight.... TTFN

Don, you are right....everyday is a GIFT! We should think of it that way and every morning, thank the one who gave it to us.
Sir James, hope you are feeling better. A bunch of us have struggled with the crud that just doesn't seem to go away. I think I am finally over it, but with two small crumb snatchers in the house, I am sure to get the next illness that comes along.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend, It was good for me and right now, we are in the 90s here. Supposed to get hotter before it cools down..we shall see.
Take care and God Bless,
dennis

Another one of those days, Cold and windy, with Sun in and out. Mostly in, temps in the 50s.

Filled in as a church money counter this morning and then did a little gardening in spite of the nasty weather. Planted 7 new roses, to replace those deceased over the past 2 years, and cleaned up the entire rose bed. Now ready for mulch. Waiting for the maples to be done dropping seeds. Need to rake up as many as I can before mulching.

Now I can barely move. I work a day and it takes two to recover. wall1

Don, Glad to hear Chris is on the way to recovery.

GOOD EVENING
It was not an eventful day, I just took it easy. Talked to my train buddy and nothing new has come into the store so I'm not missing anything there. Temp reached 63, better than winter but not a shirt sleeve day at all. windy too. My wife is watching the Red Wings I'll go check on the score.Wings 4-Dallas 0, but not over till its over. Sleep well unless your working then don't get caught.....S.J.

Good night all. Busy day. Jumped up early and sprayed Roundup when the grass dried from rain. Cell began to ring. Off to meeting for lunch, County Commissioners meeting and then Mayors Assoc. Good to be home. More rain on the way they say [full moon in the east and big black clouds west and north]. Speaking of full moon. First full moon in May in NC means bream are bedding. Bream??? Yes Yanks, sunfish and bluegills. Everyone get WELL!!!!!!! Later.

Anyone here a book expert? I found an old book called Out West on the overland train for $4.00 the dust jacket had an original price of $12.00 back in 1967 it is in good shape with yellowed pages just wondering what if any value it has:confused:

Greetings, one and all.

I collected some e-bay-win carriages from 10 minutes away - got called a "pleasant chap" in the feedback. It made my day.

CSXect: You ask about experts? In my book, there's only one thing that people learn to be expert at: camouflage. A master craftsman is merely someone who has mastered the art of hiding mistakes. Remember always that Michaelangelo was hired by the pope originally to cover the cracks in the ceiling.

But, to answer your question, antiqbook.com have this one at $28.75, another at $21 in lesser condition. classicrail.com has it at $22

I love old books. I recently bought "A Book of Model railways" , by P.R. Wickham, 1949. The hints and tips are still of as great value today as when the book was new. In the UK, it is still subject to copyright - the 70 year rule - otherwise I would scan it and upload it to Gutenberg.

I spend a lot of time at Project Gutenberg:
Main Page - Gutenberg
it's a great resource for historical data - quite apart from an occasional darn good read.
