You all keep hearing me flap my lips about being a N Scale dabbler but,I haven't shared that many pictures.
So,here is three of my N Scale cars.

Yep, I've been wanting to do something like that for quite a while and just never got around to it. It turned out pretty good although something is still a little wacky with the scale of the shot. I was actually down at the rail yard today looking for railroad ties to start my garden railroad with and here is the actual shot...

See, even the real railroads use sectional track!

I also saw the FRED twins and their friend EOTD while I was at the yard today. FRED and his brother... FRED, were up and ready to follow the trains around for the day.

Their friend... EOTD (Yotty:mrgreen, however, felt a little disconnected and was passed out from a long sleepless night just back from LA.

Here's a couple pics I took inside one of the local scrapyards on the weekend while I was dropping off a scrap car.

I came into some money today so I went to Hobby Lobby. I picked up a Bachmann Silver Series Shell tank car and a card of twenty peel 'n' stick 12-16 volt lights from Model Power. I also picked up a 4x8 sheet of white bead board. I cut it into four pieces of 2x4 so it would fit in the back of the car. This is of no concern because I already intended to cut it up to make the pop-up section in the middle of the layout. That's where the park and playground will be.

I did however find a pure black acrylic gel from Folk Art (plaid) that seems to be a good substitute.

I've used Folk-art Licorice for the washes that I do. It's a more grey/black that represents grime a bit better.

So, I was driving down Hill street on the way back home today and as I crossed over the old bridge above the tracks, I snapped a quick shot of the evening light reflecting off the old church.

My new layout, (#4), a bridge-line that takes place in Eastern Missouri, will connect the CB&Q near hiway 79, then west to Hawk Point then south along hiway 47 across the old Wabash / Norfolk & Western RR line near Warrenton thru Missouri Wine Country to connect with MKT near hiway 94. Since this is "my" railroad most places will have the "flavor" of this area but maynot be perfect to the prototype. Time will be pre Burlington Northern (1970).​

The things that will be different on this layout:
#1 This will be a point to point RR built on Hollow-core doors along two walls, so it will be in sections.
#2 It's going to be less track, no yard, no switch machines, open staging, & simple engine service area.
#3 Just a few small towns with one or two sidings.
#4 More open scenery between towns.
#5 Interchange with RR on each end.
#6 Keep everything simple so I can spend more time running then repairing!

That's a good start on your layout Tomkat. Too bad you couldn't work in a 180 degree curve and make it an out and back.

I'll be working on weathering a Bachmann tank car today. I'll get some before and after shots to put up. For now, here's one of my older photos.
