EVENING ALL
Tom --Heres hoping your FIL has a full recovery.
I made it to the trains today, but got nothing put away. I grabbed a couple engines that have been sitting a long time and one ran good the other would not move. So I got into it (a 1990s SD40 two motor) and found a problem I thought I had taken care of.Lubriplate. The oils dry out and leave a sticky goo. Then the armatures can't turn. I thought I had relubed everything but I missed this one, so I guess Its time to test run some idle engines to find out if theres more of them. EVERYBODY HAVE A GREAT TOMORROW,,,,S.J.

Prayers for your Father in law, Tom! I've read a lot of medical reports and also have had friends and relatives deal with this and they all give the same info, early treatment helps a lot. Glad you called 911. Prayers for your wife and friend, Dennis.

Filled in hole and finished mowing. Also got a bunch of neighbor's trash out of my trees. Neighbor kid was trimming a "road" back in the trees, I think he intends to make a fort back there? If so, I want to make sure he is not on my property, that is for sure! Might have to get a copy of my property line and show it to his Dad. He has been clearing bushes out on my property, but I don't care, they are junk multiflora roses that birds planted there, volunteers like CSX's tomatoes!

Jeffrey, I am just now getting over it, I was so mad. I'm usually slow to lose my temper, but then it takes me a long time to calm down. Much prayer is involved this time. Oh well - hey, nice picture, you sure have a knack and an eye for making neat little scenes!

Good night all. Tom, prayers for Father-inlaw. Everyone should read Brent's reply about stopping the gas tax this summer and taking to windfall profits from the oil companies to fund the difference [so no funds are lost to transportation] on CTT. The kid must have lots of oil company stocks. His philosophy is the reason the county is in recession. Never had to work for a living and wonder where the next $ was coming from.

Off to Roanoke early tomorrow AM. Will be on laptop.

Sleep tight.

Well, it looks like a light day with the surgery schedule, so I get to go in a bit late today. Maid is starting today, which is a good thing as wife is still ill and that will take a load off her agenda. Also, they are to install the dishwasher today, so that will also be a big help. Plan on layout work this evening and hopefully make some progress as I will have the kids in tow.
Chief, hope you have a safe and enjoyable ride to VA!
God Bless,
Dennis

Morning. On the move early. Maybe spin the engines around the track before I leave. Hope all have a great day. Probably make some cell calls while traveling. Helps kill the time and I'm behind on contacting some of you [that I have numbers]. Got to run. Thanks for the safe wishes. God bless all.

Good morning folks

As I drove in to the office this morning the temperature was 47 F on its way to 62 F. we may get some rain later today.

There is no real change in my FIL’s condition since yesterday afternoon. He is still having troubling making coherent statements although he can now vocalize enough to get his point across. He was still having some problems with moving his hands and arms on command. He did tell everyone that he was hungry. They are running more tests on him and will be keeping a close eye on him for a few days.

No modeling last night. We did go to the Cub Scout den meetings which was a good thing. My wife’s meeting was very productive. She had boys working on three different Webelos Activity Badges at the same time. It was a good diversion.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Chief, great to talk to you this morning....safe trip my friend.
Just had a inspector come through here. I know they have a job to do, but the round and round questions get anoying. I am sure we passed. In medicine, they have a saying..."those who can...do, those who can't ...teach, and those who can't do either...inspect". Oh well. Wife is waiting on the maid to show up, should be there any time now. We also have the folks coming to install the new dishwasher. Had thought about taking the motor out of the old one, but that would be more junk laying around without a specific purpose any time soon.

I've been out running errands today. Got some bills paid this morning, went and saw my foot doctor (he's very happy with the progress I'm making) and I got a haircut. My father was comparing me to the Geico caveman. Then, I snuck off to Alexandria. While there I hit Hare's Art and Hobby, picked up an Athearn rtr Rail-box boxcar and a Digitrax DZ143PS decoder (He had ordered some for a customer and had gotten one too many), Hobby Lobby, picked up a Bachmann Silver Series UP (that's gonna change pretty quick) gondola, and Micheal's, I picked up two 0.50 oz bottles of powdered pigment (sunny yellow and white).

CNWman, Welcome back and don't stay away so long the next time. Did the L&N actually have an orange hopper car? The only orange hopper I have ever seen is Waddell Coal.

Not my fault the hard drive gave without warning:cry: At least I gots me a wirless router now, too, so WiiConnect24 here I come! As for the orange hopper, I can't find any proof they existed ANYWHERE, not on the 'net, not in any book I can find, not nowhere! The car is a Bowser kit, however, and I heard that they tend to stay prototypical with their kits, as well as the thought the hoppers were used in the first unit coal trains. If anyone's got any info on these mystery hoppers, please tell me, I need the info so I can weathe it apropriatley before mildly turning it into MoW balast duty. Here's a pic of the car:

Hi guys, well I preordered some Lionel Christmas stuff: Santa Gateman, Eggnog Vat Car, and Bobbing Santa Car. That should liven up my next Holiday layout, along with a Nativity set I picked up after Christmas for half-off at Michaels. Off tomorrow to go fishing, but big storm coming. It's a school trip with my son. They are going anyway and hope the weather is different at destination, or fish if no lightning!

Brutus - safety tip: no metal fishing poles during an electrical storm.
Well I did run some trains today, kind of checking some that have been sitting a long time, each gets a lube before they go to the track. Most are MPC and so far I have found no problems, they just lite up and go. 60s today but windy again and not feeling like a nice spring day ought to. BUT IT SURE BEATS WINTER. TTFN,,,,S.J.

CNWman, I have seen models of these orange hoppers in several gauges, but never a picture of the prototype, that is why I asked the question. Now I am curious, will have to check the museum library. Could not find anything on the net.

Tom, All the best to your FIL. Had a good friend that went through this some years ago.

Chief, Enjoy your trip.

Good morning folks

It was 50 F and overcast as I rolled onto the clogged highways this morning. High today will be 73 F with a slight chance of some boomers.

Not much happened last night. We are still waiting to hear about what is going on with my FIL. Apparently one doctor said something to him about it being a heart attack. Of course this is one of his doctors that we do not trust. My wife spent all afternoon trying to get a hold of the doctor but he never returned her calls. My wife visited her father and he is doing better. She said he was talking well and the droopiness on the right side of his face was not as bad. They could not do the MRI since he is claustrophobic.

This weekend will be busy. Tonight my son is going to a 50’s Dance at school. This is his first dance. Tomorrow we are taking our Cub Scout Pack to the Elmwood Park Zoo. As one of our pack community service projects the boys collected loose change and adopted a bald eagle at the zoo. Tomorrow we get to see it and have a session with the keepers. Sunday is softball practice and baseball game.

I need to tidy up the layout. I also want to start adding some details to the Farm House Area. If all else fails maybe I will inventory my locos.

I hope everybody has a good day.
