Intermountain AC12 announced; question

It seems the long-awaited AC12 from IM has now been announced for the end of 2008.
There will be a version with the tender lettered 'Southern Pacific' and one with a non-lettered tender.
Can anyone tell me what the respective eras are for the lettered and non-lettered versions? I can't find much on SP sites.

Meiriongwril:wav: , I have a first run Intermountain AC12(HO ) :mrgreen: , mine is without the tender lettering:winki: . to answer your question, not all of ANY of the cab forwards were lettered on the tender, AC12's included:winki: . the AC12's were the LAST of the cab forwards made, they were also the largest of the cab forwards. the last of all the cab forwards ran in 1956, it was an AC12.

In HO they are NOT good runners:frowns: , but the detail is rivaled by top quality brass:thumb: . i hope the N scale versions run better.

EDIT: obviously your a cabforward fan:thumb: , just thought i would mention the "Southern Pacific Cab Forward Collection" DVD:winki: , i have this, and its SLAP AWESOME:thumb: , TONS of facts and footage of MANY of the cab forwards, truly a "must have" for any cab forward fan:winki::mrgreen: .

Thanks Deano -
yup, I've got that DVD - pretty amazing stuff!!
To recap then, in the early to mid 1950s some AC12s would have lettering and some wouldn't, and I could run both types together without being anachronistic?

Sorry, but SP folk are always a tad suspicous of UP-ers!!!:mrgreen:
sign1 , NO PROBLEM:thumb: , can't say as i blame you:winki::mrgreen: .

BTW, i watched my Cab Forward DVD 3 times back to back tonight while i was modeling:mrgreen: . Interesting fact: the Cab Forwards that DID NOT have lettering on the tender were mostly the ones designated to the "the hill", putting lettering on the tenders of those was a waste because it would be unreadable after a couple trips through tunnels & snow sheds:winki: .
