Great shots everyone!:thumb:

I haven't been very active as of late due to other reasons. However, I'm finaly able to get back in the hobby, and here are some pics:mrgreen::

BL2 1845 waits on the grain siding as RS-32 4242 rolls by with two CNW boxcars that have seen better days:

4242's train has a surprise at the end, however:

This oddly colored hopper was part of the early unit coal trains run by the L&N, although why they chose orange for the first color is unkown to me, but I like it:mrgreen: Although it can ride rails, this thing is WAY past its prime and is in need of maitnence (I subsituted accurail one-peice couplers for these pics), so it will be turned into a MOW balast car along with some proper weathering:mrgreen:

Here is a partially disasembled TYCO caboose, Chessie Sys./C&O #3323, with the cab riding on an improvised flatcar (another TYCO car's floorplate). I am going to bring this caboose up to snuff (knuckle coupers, windows, the works), but what I can't decide on is to keep the orginal lettering or turn this into the first Riverside Railroad peice of rolling stock.

Oh yeah, and this morning, I caught UP 2-8-0 #618 preparing for her first run without the extra tender weight. Conrail #1992 is leading the fan train so as to clear the mainline:

Thanks for the welcome...pleeeeease don't tell me you're gonna harm that Tyco Chessie:eek::eek: ...'tis a heritage piece.

Thanks Chris, electrics are my favorites, second only to articulated steam---you wouldn't know that seeings I have nary a foot of wire anywhere on or within 300 miles of my layout.

Keep It Moving!
Same! i love my electrics. More and more of my roster is has pantographs on it. I might actually be displacing diesels on my layout.

Of all my Amtrak locomotives, only one is a diesel.

Poor steam never had a chance...sign1

I can't wait to get the catenary up on my layout, but i've been hitting snags, literally... I need to build better catenary bridges, all the ones pictured have currently fallen. I proably need a hotter soldering iron, and better flux, since the joints were never that strong. I have had a hard time soldering rail.

Does "harm" mean overhauling the trucks, couplers, etc. so it can actually RUN on track? THere is so much green crud on the wheelsets that this thing constantly de-rails at the lowest speeds at my switches, and the single horn-hook coupler is just a 'horn' coupler that hardly works at all. Besides, this thing would look nice behind my Hustler for my planed MoW train in matching colors:twisted:

I went to Hobby Lobby today and came back with some goodies. A roll of stranded hook-up wire (22 gauge, 90 feet), a Bachmann Silver Series flatcar and two bottles of WS medium gray ballast.

Their wide vision cabeese are a good bit oversized---almost 4mm/00 scale so you might want to consider another candidate. I do the Kadee thing and change out the wheelsets to Intermountain 33" metal ones to most of my Tyco rolling stock, but do try to keep everything else the same. The Tyco rendition of the Chessie scheme is not too bad for a toy.

I am a member of a Tyco forum, its funny how Tyco went from kitbashing fodder to a treasure in just a few short months...I mean...how can you not appreciate a Tyco GG1:p:twisted:

Know what you mean about those overhead wires, Chris. They are under alot more stress then you'd figure. If I ever put it up, I'm keeping it simple and using Marklin's catenary...and it's battle tested to boot.

Unfortunently, I only have two cabeese: my first one (CNW center cab), and the TYCO Chessie, so I don't have much to work with:cry:. If I could get another caboose to mess with I'd gladly leave the Chessie scheme on, but the nearest nomenee is a brand-new toy quality Life Like caboose (the train department at Johnny's toys is LOADED with 'em), and I frankly don't want to spend $8 on a cheap plastic shell when I could get an Atheran Blue box kit for the same price.
