Doug: Can't wait to read about this one in the blog. Probably a good thing that she has a friend like your daughter to confide in.

Neighbors, schneibors...Invite them over for cards!

Informed bride is getting a crackberry...

Good morning folks

It was 39 F this morning on its way to 49 F. They keep saying we will have some rain today. It has been a busy morning at work. We had to close a section of I-95 through Philadelphia because of a huge crack in a support column of a bridge. An emergency support system is being put into place and they hope to open the road tomorrow. In the mean time 180,000 vehicles a day have to find an alternate route.

I attended the funeral for my friend yesterday and afterward didn’t feel much like doing anything. Luckily I kept busy. The check engine light came on in the van Sunday night, so since I needed a car to get to the funeral I had to drive my wife to work and pick her up. In the evening the kids had baseball and softball practice. We had to pick up the van and pay $287.00 to have an oxygen sensor replaced. Then I had to bring up the bins for the St. Patrick’s Day decorations so they could be put away and bring up the bins for Easter decorations so they could be put up.

I did get downstairs and set-up a train for the next photo shot and ran the train a few times around the layout.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning
A very dark and gloomy morning. The story book kind. Oh well don't have to shovel rain. My wife is not feeling well, came home from daughters and went to bed so no trains until she wakes up. I hear her coughing so guess she is not asleep. I'll still wait awhile. Kids are coming over tonite for her birthday which is tomorrow but she is an Awana leader and thats on wed's. Everyone stay safe,,,,S.J

Morning all from a damp and gloomy Chicago. Ran trains instead of watching TV last evening after our excitement. Murphy's law was in effect as trolleys and trains derailed or acted oddly.

Brutus, tell me more about the station kit you purchased? Is it a hydrocal set?

Got to musing more how my daughter's friend's family tracked her (us) down. They didn't know her last name but remembered a part of one of our rather unique license plates - my officer visitor tried 15 different combinations before he got what sounded right. The bride picked up the friend on the way to school this morning. Funny how all my daughter's friends live further away from the H.S. - as in miles - yet their kids walk to school in the dark - probably don't want to ride the bus...

Chuck, When you are finished there, how about coming on over and working on my layout, it could use a good dusting and it sounds like you are more experienced at it than I am. :thumb:

Afternoon all. Grandson coming for a few days. :thumb: Will be side open. Going to do some trains as cold adn damp outside. Just got back from a big boring meeting. Did have free BIG breakfast with cheese GRITS. :thumb: Then solved a citizen's problem with park trail going close to their backyard. Actually a lot of their backyard is Town property. Putting in berm next to the wooded area to seperate new park trail from yard [on Town property], letting her continue maintaining Town part of her yard and she can plant on the berm. She had wanted to put in berm [on her $$] so we made her happy. We still get trail around the outer edge of the park. LAZ, you are a great guy. Bought me a new Legacy engine and shipped it to me for free [you haven't told be how much????]. Later

Chief, had I known Laz was into sending free Legacy engines, I would have invited him down to get some of the deer in my yard. Had 6 the other morning. Actually, I think it is you who have been very generous with guys in the hobby, even if they do turn out to be a putz.

Well, I am on call, so while we have finished the cases, I do have to hang around, waiting for reports and Xrays, etc. After rounds, I'll head home. The dog had a little incident last night and I had to clean it up:eek:. Poor thing had an upset stomach and so it kept us on edge all night, in case he had a second incident. I am tired, but I do hope to set up a loop of Fastrack and the Legacy to check out my Savannah and Atlanta engine.

In case I haven't told y'all lately, I really appreciate this site and the ability to communicate with friends made here and those brought here from other places.

God Bless,
dennis

Yes, John, I have all the dusting equipment.
I usually run the trains, and sit there and dust them as they go by. A few times past does the trick. I'd love to come dust your layout, say around YORK time. That would be worth it.
Chuck

Doug....You lucky Irishman!!! Now, with the neighbors' curosity going at warp speed, spread the rumor about your involvemnt in the Irish mob. :thumb:

Chuck....Engine Duster???? I just got you out of the cook duty and now you take up Engine Dusting. wall1hamr:v8:

I am ready for warm, dry , weather and a new Hobby Shop Adventure.

HI GIZ,
First off got my CTT today was paging through it and on pg.21 LOW and behold our own TOM, SPANKYBIRDs, LAYOUT made it to the CTT pictures section. BIG CONGA, TOM! How much money did you make by sending in those pics? Good job!
YUZ GIZ, talking about TRAIN DUSTERS, anyone have a Plymouth Duster? I have a '72 Duster 3 seed on the floor with the slant six engine. Ran great got 155K miles out of it, but the body desintergrated. Bondo was holding it together with pop rivits.
CHIEF, I'll email you later on the cost. Or you can have it free if you promise not to eat anymore GRITS and tell everyone in the South they are no good for you and that sweet tea will rot out your teeth.
All have a good one,

My guess is you'll be getting a check instead, Laz! sign1

Doug, it's the DD38 Rocky Flats Station from Downtown Deco! I've been thinking about it for about 8 months and thought I needed a little present for being a good boy and keeping my feet up as much as possible. I got it for about $70 including the s/h.

It's hydrocal, like that kit you made Doug. I hope I have some good luck and it turns out as good as one of Jeffrey's projects! BTW, hope your sciatica gets better, Jeffrey? Do you have some bad discs in your back?

"Crackberry" sign1

Chuck, when you get done at John's house, you can make a roadtrip to my house and dust my trains? I've got strawberry shortcake in the freezer (shhhh - it's weightwatchers, but tastes great anyhoo). Better hurry over tonight, though - Kurt and Doug will let you in. I think Sir James is busy with a party at home.

Hi Tony - sorry to hear about that, maybe some of it will stick though...

Dennis - sounds like you have had really great luck with your dog! Chewy had already ripped up about a 3 by 5 foot section of vinyl flooring by now - trying to live up to her nickname. As I recall, her fullname is Chewbacca due to her haircut when we bought her - looked a lot like Chewy from the movies, but white hair instead of that gold/brown color.

CSX - I forgot, I asked a buddy about that XNA language and he's a professional programmer/database guy, but he hasn't ever used any of the game languages like that or OpenGl etc. Aside from the actual language, of course, you need to have development tools for graphics and sound etc. That's the reason I backed away from this stuff. I can come up with good ideas for a game and even some AI modules, but my attempts to translate that into a visual and sonic experience were failures. I don't know why, because I'm a fair artist with charcoal or acrylic paints!

Evening all,

Chuck, That sounds like a plan to me, just give me a heads up when you decide to head East.

Here are a few pics from the greenhouse. I took them this afternoon when it was overcast so no glare.

Wow, it is so great to see real live green growing things! This may be the first March in a decade here without a 60 degree day. That's a great greenhouse, John. Can you tell me some of the things that are growing in it?

I too appreciate the guys here. I have benefited from your wisdom and generosity. For example, I was able to replace the bad track on my return loop with some sent to me from North Carolina...

Brutus, that's a great-looking kit - can't wait to hear how it comes out.

I'm thinking of building a 'halt' from some of the spare wood parts I have around.

Congrats to Tom - can't wait to see those photos!

Laz, is that the last time you got a deer or just with your flintlock? I thought you and your brother were successful last season. I didn't have a Duster, but a '73 Dodge Charger SE - it too was held-together by bondo.
