Gus , Model Mount has 3 types of plaster and is slow cure (over night) and has texture mixed in with vermiculite and has sort of a brown grey color to it already (as opposed to stark White) . If I was using hydrocal I would try to mix in some sand and powder or liquid tinting , while mixing.

Thanks for the heads-up on the plaster... :thumb: I'll look into powders that can be mixed in with it to give it a "primary" color....

I gotta tell you I also use a plaster mix called Model Mount that was formulated by a gentleman in Albuquerque who passed away many years ago but is still being mixed by Trains West in Albuquerque.

Trains west

If anyone tries this stuff please tell them up there you heard it here.
Thanks , Mike
Thanks for the info on the Model Mount. I've added it to the Detailing Page of my model links, with credit given to you. Just my little bit to help others in the hobby.

Thanks Clark , Warren seems to be reluctant to sell nationwide, but I think it is a worthy product. I have used it exclusively on every one of my 20 or so layouts and I don't know what I will ever do if I am unable to get it.

Actually there were several of us who used to mix it when the model RR club used to sell it. The gentleman who created it passed away and the formula was given to Warren (if I remember correctly) and he was just making it for those of us left. I understand he is having it mixed for him now by someone local up in Albuquerque. I just can't remember the mix.

Been Sick But

Robin and I have been sick with the flu for the last four days but on day two I was able to sit up at the bench and transform two Faller (houses under construction) into two buildings for the ghost town that will be where the old mine is in the center loop. The shed os done from cardboard and is about 3/4" tall.

Yes , This flu beat me down like a dog. I guess I may have to start thinking flu shots at 56 years old. I felt like Dracula going out to the post office today!
Thanks , Mike

Oh no problem, I had the flu, and couldn't go to school. It affected my grades, but I got'em back up. It also lagged me in my models :/

Anyways, I hope to see more progress from this. First Train model/ something about Trains, I've been inteerested in. I've always wanted to see your guys' techniques...

I'm convinced the flu shot is a conspiracy by the medical field to make money. Once you take it, you'll have to take it every year or you are guaranteed to get the flu.

The claim here was that all the flu shots were the wrong strain and that everyone is getting sick from a different strain.
Oh Well , i'm back to about 60% Wooo Whoooo
