Does anyone know of another model train shop on the north side of Danforth in Toronto in the Main & Danforth area, that is something other than John's Hobbies? My wife is confident that she saw another one -- it even advertised model trains on the outside -- and she is also sure it wasn't John's Hobbies.

So I'm very curious if anyone knows about this shop or has been there, etc. I just tried googling this and nothing turned up.

Thanks!

Rob

Not much help, the only one I know of is John's in that area. I live about fifteen minutes away. I don't go into John's too much...last time I was in there they didn't really seem to have much in the way of what I was looking for. Plus the guy whom I did not recognize behind the counter didn't seem to give a rats behind.

Too bad really. The few times I was in there before, I thought the guys whom I assumed to be the regulars were pretty good and at the very least friendly.

Thanks, Tetters. I still think my wife simply saw John's Hobbies and, for some reason, thought it was a different store -- maybe they've got a new look or new signs?!

I live slightly north of that area and, for some strange reason, hardly ever find myself going into John's Hobbies. I don't have any reason other than they might carry too much German/European model train stock and everything else I need I can get from Hornet Hobbies (much more convenient for me & they have some British stuff as well) or George's Trains in Markham.

Cheers,
Rob

It would have to be very new - otherwise, John's is it for that stretch. There used to be a place called "Casey's" over near Greenwood, but that's been gone a long time now (20 years?).

I grew up going to John's with my Dad...I'm not sure, but I think the owner finally retired and passed it on to his kids or sold it outright in the last few years.

That's what I was thinking -- that it must be very new. Apparently, Wheels and Wings (formerly on St. Clair East) is now on the Danforth. But my wife said the word "trains" was clearly seen. Thanks, Rob

Hmm, that's interesting. Hopefully a better location, though I imagine the rent would be higher down there. I like it when there is a clustering of similar stores like that...now with W&W, DeSerres (formerly Loomis and Toles), and John's in a short stretch, that could make for some productive shopping trips when I'm back in town!

Those guys have bounced around a fair bit. They actually started off as partners in Wheels and Wings before splitting off and starting their own store. I think they are back near their original location at Kingston and St. Clair, if they haven't closed down altogether.

Collector lane didnt have much train stuff except when he came across some estate stuff and then he sold it cheap for the junk or overpriced for the good stuff even if it was used. When you do find out the answer to who's store it is let me know unless its just John's.
