Ja, when you start out learning the different classes and the small and large differences on locos, I remember those days...

Yeah, it wasn't untill I went to buy 4242 did I actualy learn it was an RS-32, NOT an RS-36! To be honest, though, MR's review on the Atlas trainman RS-36 included a picture of a D&H RS-36, and I instantly wanted one, although I missed the part where they said the body shell was only very slightly altered for the RS-32's and -36's:p Luckly for me, the CNW did have the RS-32's. They also did indeed have an RS-36, but there's not a production model of it.

I know how you feel about trying to get models for your railroad, either you have to build itór it's non- existant or it's expensive, and not neccessarily brass either.

Yeah, especialy when your 'dream' steam engine is a semi-streamlined 2-8-0 with the old style headlight that can handle 18' curves:eek::p At least I'm most likley getting a 2-6-2 for christmas, I like rare engines (only 1500[?] 2-6-2's were built)

Hhmmmm... lots of tank engines, well locally and in the UK, have that wheel arrangement, trying to think of tender locos like that...

You got a pic of this loco you want?

Well, I finally did get a 2-8-0 today, a nice Spectrum and my first steam engine. Here's a pic:

And this is why it's in this thread:

Lucky you! :thumb:

I hear those Spectrum 2-8-0's are SWEET. They sure look nice. I'd like to get my hands on 2 of them for my layout and do them up in CNE road name.

Congrats!

Well, in North America, there weren't so many tank engines.

The Santa Fe Image:ATSF 1000, 1901 Baldwin.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is the railroad I most associate with the 2-6-2. Well, that and SZD (Soviet Railways). Their standard passenger engine for many years (built 1911-51, used to ~1979) was a 2-6-2 of which over 3700 were made - the most numerous passenger locomotive of any kind anywhere.

and yet i hated my 2-6-2.....she was UP but i decided to scrap her....litterally. MWUHAHAHAHAH....er sorry lol serriously i wont be buying any Bmann locos ever again, of all that i have had they died within weeks of buying them.....my GP50 died in 3 days
my F7 well she lasted a while, till her motor finally gave out probably a year, never ran her she made me bleed from the ears
my 2-6-2 give or take 40 minutes.....
too think they were all UP
well atleast my SD70M is still running (thank god for Kato!)

oh and a tip for you UP fans,
if you want the hand rails that are supposed to be painted white, dont use any paint that comes out of a jar..... or air brush.... they chip off too easily, i used a Sharpie paint marker, it is litteraly paint in marker form, (use fine tip ) this stuff does not chip or crack, it will flex with the plastic, or metal in HO cases it does how ever like most paint, can be scratched off, but hey why you pickin your loco up by the handrail anyways?

If you can afford it, I think Bman has N scale Spectrum stock, and Spectrum is WAY beter than their normal stuff, although to be honest, my B23-7 is a normal Bachman item, and runs great today, despite being last lubed in 2002 and thrown into a junk box for the weathering class I got her at (but I think all B23-7's were originaly Conrail and not one ever made it onto the UP roster) Now all I need is another B23-7 mate done up for Conrail # 1980...

does any one own the N-scale Athrean Big Boy yet? i was going to buy it soon, but the GG1 is still on my list to get sorry UP fans, belive it or not the PRR is #1 in my book, but the UP has its place as #2 lol

NScaler711...I presume you're referring to the "old" B'mann line of locos. The new Spectrum class is way above those early B'manns. I got 4 of them (4-8-2, 2-8-2, 2-8-0, 4-6-0) and have run them continually for over 3-4 years and haven't had any problems with them.. For the $$'s, you'll be hard put to find a better loco (steamers, anyway..).

sign1I just learned that UP 618 is the only one of all my engines that have found a home in a museum (coencidentaly, my story/excuse for her on my layout is that she came from a museum!sign1)
