Hello! My name is Jon..I used to do model railroading in my younger years(pre-teen to early teen) and have gotten interested in the hobby again..I am also heavily involved in another hobby I used to do from years ago and that is model rocketry! Got turned on to this forum by another member of TRF(The Rocketry Forum)..Lots of neat stuff over here! I am into 'N' Scale as I am limited on space(and budget) for a layout..Anyways, just wanted to say 'Howdy!' Here are a couple of pictures...lol..First picture is of some stuff I got from a fellow member of TRF..2nd picture is evidence of my addiction to model rockets!sign1

:welcome1:Jon....Glad you joined us at The Gauge -THE mrr forum on the net! I too was really into rockets at one time, my favorite was the space shuttle that released the solid boosters at the apex and the shuttle flew back to earth in large circles, really cool :thumb:

Welcome abroad jon.. Did N gauge and Model rockets - always something neat going on!! Now I'm modeling in G 1:20.3 (Actually F gauge)

A big one is DCC. Model trains have become much more animated with the advent of DCC in the past 15 years. One can now control individual lights an sounds of locomotives, and the contol of trains is much more realistic.

a second big one is the amount of detail on rolling stock. 30 years ago, most rolling stock was kits with cast-on details like grab irons and steps. Due to many factors (computers, global economy, etc), the detail level of today's ready to run offerings far exceeds the level 30 years ago.

Got some track laid

Well, I got some track laid this evening! It isn't much to look at right now, just a funny shaped loop and a curving siding..I was feeling-and still am- under the weather, bleh! Was able to watch it do some laps!..And I guess I did my first switching exercise too! As the train was leaving the sidings the loco's disconnected from the cars, had to back up and re-hook to the cars!:rofl:

Anyways here is a picture of the simple layout so far..Shot a video I will need to upload to photobucket if interested..
