Prices (on the Internet) for code 83 NS and for 3 ft pierce (I need 100 pieces) go from about 2.60 to 6.80 each for quantity price.

I have look at Atlas, Model power, micor engineer, peco, shinohara.

Is there any other brand the I should consider and why not go with the cheapest supplier?

Kent.

Boy, track has gone up! I swear I bought 100 pieces of Atlas code 83 for about $250 just a couple of years ago. But you are correct as I as far I can see today. In fact, several places don't even list a 100-pack as an item. 1stplace hobbies is usually one of my favorite on-line stores for good prices, but they do not list it now. The best place I found this morning is Cherry Creek Hobbies (cchobbies.com) for $368 for 100 pieces of Atlas code 83 which is what I use and, as others have indicated, there is not much difference in brands. I have always had great, fast service and low prices from them, but if you can get it for $2.60 per section that would be a lot better. Good luck!

I put a question up here about 6 months ago about the difference between Atlas and Model Power Flex track. The general consensus was there was very little difference. I'm talking code 100 here but the model power is on sale at train world for less than $180 (I think it was $159 but I loaned my latest model railroader magazine.) They also have the Atlas in code 83 and 100 cheaper then anywhere else I have found.
One LHS here is selling Atlas code 100 for $9.95 ea. (a true bargain)

Hi Kent,
I've only used the Model power in N-scale and I remember I did not like working with it much.

For Atlas, try: Atlas HO Track and Accessories - Trainworld 718-436-7072
US 28.00 for 10 pcs.

Used them in the past, they were very professional, well stocked, shipped quick. I'm surprised at cchobbies, I thought they were often low also. Let us know how it turns out!! Good Luck!

While the topic is up I have 2 questions. 1: When ordering from cchobbies.com can you order online and on the phone? And I know this is a little off topic but will the Atlas switch machines (regular, not under table) work with #6 switches? Thanks

I know you can order from cchobbies by phone since I have done that. I believe you can order via the email address they provide also. Sorry, can't help with the Atlas switch machine as I have not used them.
