Tom, Looks like we are getting the same kind of weather except ours started before daylight this morning.

I took the wife to work and brought her home again this evening. Only about a mile and a half so no big deal. That and to check the greenhouse and to feed the wood shop cat were my only ventures outdoors today. Nice being retired in weather like this. Think I will probably play hooky from Museum tomorrow as well.

Sir James, I haven't had to run my snow blower yet this year, but this might be the one. Looks like we have about 6 inches. It will depend how much rain and freezing rain we get on top of it. My have to let son or grandsons move it with the skid loader or tractor with front end loader. Lots of options before I have to get out the shovel.

Doug, there is one of those sets on ebay right now if you are interested, may be some of those cars separately also, didn't look that far.

We just got a phone call from the school district saying schools will open two hours late tomorrow. This makes me wonder what tomorrow morning will be like. Our school district never closes schools. The other districts around us will be closed or opening late but we’re not. Our kids are usually trudging through snow and ice to and from school.

Think I will probably play hooky from Museum tomorrow as well.

What museum would that be?

John, do you have a item type I could use or that you'd recommend? As you said, there are a million items - I found 14,000 things with the word 'Marx' available. Or are those the ore wagons Kurt mentioned - I didn't think to search for those. I know I've seen 2 axle cars that could pass for British outline vans and wagons after some judicious kitbashing.

RT - glad you didn't burn up the house! Take care, friend! Good night Sir J and thanks for the kind hospitality - didn't mean to keep you up so late, buddy! Hope you are feeling better soon. Thanks for the link and the pics, Jeff! Well, I want to thank all for the kind thoughts and prayers for my Mom who had a knee operation yesterday - they finally got some pain medicine she can keep down and she is doing much better.

Prayers for all of us and our loved ones in particular. I know that many times we don't come forward and ask for prayers, because others are doing so much worse etc. But you are all in my thoughts each day and I thank God for you guys.

Snow???? What snow???? balloon6Was cold this AM, was up to the 60's by noon, now in the 40's but 30 miles east in the 60's and we are to jump back up to the 60's by sunup. Crazy temps. Rain coming through and should be heavy during the night. Reclinerized until last of Westminister. Beagle got best of show. RT, don't burn down the State of Tenn. I now know that LAZ uses his class to build his layout parts for him. HUMM. Jim F, still remembering your Mom. Had great chat with Dennis this evening. Think he should have some layout pictures soon. Gooood night. Busy tomorrow with getting ready to go.

Good morning folks

We are at 39 F right now expecting a high of 46 F. It is raining and has rained hard over night. The van is no longer under a layer of ice but the sidewalks and driveways are still ice covered. It makes walking difficult. When I went to bed last night everything was covered in a ¼” to ½” layer of ice. The kids have a two hour delayed opening so I am going into work late. With the icy sidewalks and rain walking would not be fun for them.

I finished weathering the trucks on the last of the flat cars. I also weathered 12 trailers for the TOFCs.

I hope everybody has a good day.

 Good morning
I just cleared the walks looks like about another 3 inches. Local TV station said this morning we had a total of 11 inches of snow last year. 38 inches so far this year and snow is predicted for Fri nite. Sun is out and its 19 now..I have no outdoor plans so maybe trains today. Be careful today; Fri the 13th is on Wednesday this month. S.J.

Did you see Corgi has a new catalog out - with another Birney trolley for Connecticut Co., and a dead PCC as a truck load?

Lots going on today......
Sir James --- Studying the calendar, contemplating snow.
Doug -- Checking out trolleys, trying to stay out of snow.
Chuck -- Doing chores, avoiding snow.
John -- Staying home today, watching the snow.
Chief -- Packing for a cruise to avoid the snow.
Laz -- Playing in the snow
Many Others watching the snow.

Got my paper deliverd yesterday, no big deal, probably make another trip next week. Then went to the LHS, picked up a battery, and home to work on layout. Got home and it was 80 degrees on the patio in the shade!!!!
Committed to work on layout despite the weather. Replaced 2 toggle switches, and everything works great. Then had another toggle added intermittenly. Gues this is due to buying some "cheap" switches, $1 each. Will no doubt end up replacing them all.

Going to the train club tonight. Take the Daylight Set down. Hope everyone has a great day! And everyone feels better.

Good morning.

Recently someone (must've been a Yankee) asked me if there was anything that us Southerners didn't eat fried. I told him that one thing I knew of is salad. He said that if someone were to figure out a way to fry that we would probably eat that too. I said 'In a heartbeat'.

We've all heard about the cop hiding behind the billboard. Could this be the home of a cop who lives behind a billboard?

Morning all!

Don - and those of us watching snow on TV cuz we don't have any!

Freezing this morning, but up to 55 today and sunny! Got about an inch of rain night before last. We needed it.

Got the Lionel catalogs in the mail yesterday - some nice stuff in there!

Have spent the last 3 nights until midnight or later with he-who-is-14-and-waits-too-long-to-start-his-homework so I am tired. Last night was not his fault exactly since he went from school to tutoring to soccer practice to school event and not home until after 9 - but boy am I getting tired. We have given him some requirements to meet on this homework thing or he loses his PC (again).

Have a great day all!

Hey guys - I'm off today with kids as school was cancelled - this is snow day number 4 I think? It's not too bad at our house, but side roads are bad a little south of us so buses can't get through.

Talked with Mom and she is doing a lot better on new pain pills - Vicodin. I had that med with my last surgery and it was great. She will be released this afternoon or tomorrow morning depending on how her physical therapy goes today -- she really wants to go today so acting like she is fine. I hope she's not pushing herself too hard.

My son got a new guitar hero game, so the house is rocking! That's okay, but he wants me to try and I don't know if I have the talent to do that guitar thing. Need to run by the PO today and then will go out to dinner later with some friends.

A friend recently wrote about carrying a heavy brick around on her blog - someone hurt her feelings and it pained her for a week. Well, I finally threw away a heavy brick I've been carrying for about the last 2 or 3 months and actually feeling a lot better for it. You can't make someone be your friend and if they turn out to be a different person than you thought, I guess it's best to just accept it and walk away.

Wishing all a blessed and glorious day!

This Museum.
National Toy Train Museum - Toy Trains for All Ages

I volunteer in the Library.

Doug, I am far from a Marx expert so can't be a lot of help. There are others on the forums that should be able to answer your questions.

The Snow turned to rain here, only went as far as the mailbox today, to get the morning paper, so don't know the road conditions. I'm headed to the grocery later to pick up some things for dinner tomorrow night. That is my night to cook.

If my memory is correct, the Chief leaves tomorrow for the BIG CRUISE!!

I started a new project, even though I have many unfinished ones. I am cataloging my trains on IMTrains software. Quite a job as I am putting pictures in the listing as I go. Probably about 10% done.

Busy day in Rolesville Town Hall. Just finished a bag of microwave popcorn. Actually lunch as had such a big breakfast. Pouring rain. Later

Jim - Very glad you mom is doing better. I am glad we are not having snow days here. They just extend the school year since the days must be made up at the end of the school year.

John - how do you like that software?

Chief - is the rain recently helping make up for the drought in your area?
