Yankees learning to be Southern. Snowing but still highways are open. Will be slick as baby's butt tomorrow morning as going into the 20's tonight. Or it can be slick as a peeled onion or slick as tires sitting on watermelon rines. Sir J getting even for me changing his breakfast this AM. later.

Home from the last birthday party of the day and full of yellow cake with white icing (I would have preferred chocolate icing on yellow cake).

John & 60103, I think the big point of LONGHORN aka VISTA was for Microsoft to be able to force the manufacturers of the computers to add some kind of data chip/hardware identification? I stopped paying attention to this stuff like I used to back when I subscribed to Byte and Nibble and PC Magazines etc, but MS wanted to be able to identify the copy of the OS with the hardware. I suspect that this WAS implemented, because when I registered all I basically did was identify myself and my preferences for contact and that was it. The computer apparently identified itself. So, the big changes from XP that I have really noted other than some graphics pizzaz is that it asks you if you want to do stuff a lot more (I guess this is the added security and may be worth it in the event that I ever see something weird trying to execute) and MS upgraded their profit margins and intellectual property protection.

I had ME for a year or two and it was okay, but the last version that I really really liked was the final version of Windows 98. OTOH, XP has stabilized and I guess I was used to it.

Steamhead, you should have seen me trying to put the little coupler pin in to add on the passenger car on the Best Friend of Charleston! LOL, that's when my wife convinced me I needed glasses!

BTW - Nice pics, Jeffrey!

PPS - Ngauger, sorry I forget that you have changed to the larger scale stuff! Got my new TCA magazine and I really have to say I'm being drawn to that shiny shiny tinplate.... LOL Maybe I "need" a loop of standard gauge somewhere too?!

Morning!

8-degrees here.

Did some assembly with the 2025, and compared ot to the origional paint. I'm not sure I'm satisfied with the Krylon Semi-Flat black. Very close, but not quite. I also painted the steam chest. I'll be stripping that and re-bluing it. First Repaint. So I'm learning that I'm very fussy.

Has anyone used the #225 Black Satin Train Enamel for Lionel Engines? How does it compare?

Brutus: OGR Run 227 Feb/March has a story on selecting, stripping, and repainting an old timplate, and turning it into a Blue Comet set. If you're into the DIY stuff.

Yankees driven back Nawth. :thumb: Bet now there is only 10% snow on the ground. Temps are down but we kept them up [Southern] too long so snow went away about 3 AM. Streets dried before the freeze hit. Carolina blue skies. Funny. Buckeyes are bragging this about pretty skies. They always have CAROLINA BLUE skies [even above the clouds they may have]. :thumb: SS and Church were canceled last night with the Yankee weatherperson's forecast of slick roads. Having "Just only my day" as wife calls it. Trains later.
Have a great day and week.

Good Morning from Sunny California, glad that the reflection is doing so well across the country. S/B another boring day, bright, warm and comfortable. (That's why we put up with the fire, people, shakers, mudslides, floods, riduclous laws, crowding, and everything else.) Hmmmm, maybe we are crazy??

Today is my day for the train room, looking forward to that!!! Trying to decide whether or not to take tomorrow off as a holiday. Invariably if I do, will probably miss a lot of opportunity, if I go to the office will probably be very slow. Depends I guess on what I get accomplished today.

My goal is get shelving finished, room cleaned, and some pictures. Then of course their is a couple of football games on. So hope everyone has a great day!

Primaries are getting close to Ca., I'm sure the populus will do the state proud, (not). The elections seem more and more to be a test of tolerance around here.

Daylight is burning, so got to get busy, Have a great day all!

Hey everyone:wave:

Big day for me today. First I gotta go to Johnny's Toys for a clinc on track laying, and maybe get lucky if there is a junk box at the store:twisted::mrgreen: Then I gotta go with family to the mall to get my birthday present: a cellphone! The funny thing is, I was given a choice between a cellphone and a model train table some time ago, you can probably guess what I chosesign1 I'm just wondering if I can get the CNW logo for a backround:mrgreen:.

Cheers,
CNWman

Good morning folks! Full of pancakes and syrup and ready for a bracing nap already! LOL Taped The Court Jester and my daughter loves it - I knew she would. Son is pouting 'cause he needs to clean up his room before he can play some games. Wife is making Disney plans. I'll let her. Gonna get cleaned up in a little while and run my trains for a while. Might run the Hogwarts for a few laps? I can't get motivated, but I need to finish the insulation so I an do the drywall in the play room. Oh well - just so much going on now that when I have some time to myself I just seem to get on the computer and that's about it?

I see you caught Buckey in action. :thumb:bounce7

Speaking of Buckeye, I want to tell you where to go to get your Lionel trains serviced. Official service stations in Columbus OH.
Hobby Harbor 22 N 12th Street
Hoffman Electric Train Service 1254 E Main St. phone Fa 0692
Found my original Lionel How To Operate Lionel Trains and Accessories from 1953. Guess what? No Spainish. [:O] Does list repair centers all over the world. Noticed that there were none in the Soviet Union. Wonder why not?
Wonder if the back page offer still stands. Use coupon below to order Eigineer's cap and 10 colorful Billboard signs for $.25. Write to: The Lionel Corporation, Advertising Dept., 15 East 26th Street, New York 10, NY.

Morning Al. Watching Church on TV. Cleaned up a lot of stored stuff in wife's next guest bedroom. That was where I found my old train manual. Getting it done. I smell turkey and dressing. Wife is cooking. :thumb: Add some colards and I will have a good meal.
Later.

Good afternoon folks

It is 23 F right now. High today is supposed to be 25 F.

My daughter had basketball practice this morning and we just finished lunch. I am waiting for the next round of errands or honey-dos to come.

I finished weathering the wheels and trucks for the TOFCs. I need to seal them. I also painted the hubs on the trailers to match the trailers. Next is weathering.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good afternoon, It was 19 this morning and 26 as I type this. No snow yet. Prediction is for possible flurries, that means they don't have a clue.

I hope to do a switch (thats a turnout to you scale guys) replacement this afternoon while watching the FB game. One of my Realtrax 054s is giving me problems, it wont lock up in the straight through position. It may be repairable, but I don't want to tie up the main while I do repairs. Got to keep the freight and passengers moving. :thumb:

Sounds like Winter has arrived all across the country except California.

Good Afternoon everyone. Hope all is well no matter what part of the world you are checking in from. Here for yet another emergency. Sometimes our emergencies take forever to get underway. Really disrupts a day.

Don, with regard to tomorrow, why not work half a day? You can go in and catch up on any leftover projects and be there for any new things that come across the desk. If they happen after you leave, well, at least you put forth the effort. For us, people still get sick, so no holidays.

Dr. John, they are getting ready for the Refresh conference in Gatlinburg for pastors. Let me know if you want me to get you details, or if you would like, you can check with the church's website or call direct. It is a good time to get away and refresh the pastoral batteries as Lord knows everyone needs it.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead,
God Bless,
dennis
