Here are a few pictures of my latest little project that I'd like to share with everyone here. It just so happens that I found this neat little model here right under my nose on the Zealot Download page! A great big thank you goes out to Julius for being generous enough to share this with everyone.

:thumb: THANK YOU JULIUS!!! :thumb:

I had a very nice time working on this one - It was lots and lots of fun. I have to say that all of the pieces fit together perfectly and I just love the jungle camo paint scheme. After looking a some good reference photos on the internet I took the liberty to add a few extra little touches of my own here and there. That's the fun part! I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures and thanks again to Julius.

Wow, that looks great... I've been keen to try a few of julius' models and now that I've seen the great job you did on yours I'm definitely looking forward to it, it looks just as good as the 3D model, what details did you add to it?

Excellent!

We used to see these little monkeys using the public highway round here (well the Scimitar variant).

Though small in size they were very very noisy!

Thank you everyone for the positive feedback

Jaffro,
To answer your question on the extra details... I guess the biggest and most obvious one would be the whip antenna and cable spool assembly that I attached to the side of the turret. I saw this in many of the photos that I looked at and felt that the model would not be complete without it. I also added two tow hooks to the back that are made out of printed card and wire. The turret was made so that it is able to rotate 360 degrees. This was done by cutting a 1" circle out of the bottom and replacing it with a slightly smaller disk cut out of piece of card stock that was then sandwiched between two larger disks. I also added a few other little 3D details here and there like the hubs on the road wheels for example. To do this I print out two copies of the model that I'm building that way I can use the same part twice, mount some to card stock, to add another dimension that would not be there if I only had a single copy to work with.

I've attached a few more photos below to show what is described above.

There are still a few more little things that I would like to add before I consider this build complete. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to that. With the holidays on top of us It may take awhile.... But when time allows I'd like to add a 2nd antenna to the opposite side of the turret, tow hooks with a cable to the front, rear-view mirrors, and those little tube things that are attached to the turret on both sides of the gun barrel (not sure what they are called or used for - probably used to launch something) I was not happy with the ones that were printed out with the kit, I think little hand rolled paper tubes will look much better in the end.

Anyway, I'll keep you updated on any additional progress and thanks again for all your words of encouragement.

Kevin

Nice work...

After adding a few extra details to my current model, I'm keen to use the "print extra and add detail" method a lot more in future, a little effort can go a long way... those wheels look great, I'n definitely going back to start mine over again now.

Once again, congrats on an impressive looking build :thumb:

I finished up the scorpion with a few additional details.
I added a 2nd antennia, a sighting device, and grenade launchers to the turret, two tow hooks to the front, tools on both sides, and two crew members.

That's it for this one.

This is it! I promise! I just could not let it go. I had to add the tow ropes (embroidery floss) and rearview mirrors! I also added a little slack to the tracks. I don't know if you can tell from these photos but I think they look much better than they did. There is nothing more I can think of - IT'S DONE!

The little tubes are probably smoke projectors. Little single shot martar type devices with a smoke bomb. Not that up to speed with more modern armour, but such things were standard gear for WW2 tanks.

Really like what you have done with this little tank. I think half the fun with paper modelling is the cheapness and the easyness to experiment. Scan in shop bought ones to try new things with, or ( as you did ) print extra copies to build up the detail ... this is something that is a lot harder to do with plastic kits ( not to mention the cost of failed experiments!!! Not fun to ruin a £30 plastic kit ... but not such a problem with a papermodel )

Done well, like this one has been, the end result is nearly as good as a plastic kit, and infinitely more rewarding. 'Dressing' these vehicles is also fun. I have collected up an assortment of jerry-cans etc. for dressing, and will try and make some more.

Good stuff :thumb:

very nice job Heavykevie. :thumb:
and the additional details are also looking good.
It is a sad thing that indonesian army cannot use this light tank fully operational again, coz the UK embargo that followed the aceh conflict in some years.

Huh? - I thought the Aceh conflict ended a while ago with a negotiated settlement after Aceh was trashed in the 2005 tsunami. Strange the UK would maintain an embargo after the reason for the embargo had disappeared.

HeavyKevie, your work is amazing!
I was not too impressed with the original model, but looking at yours, it changes my mind.
Yours looks fantastic.
I really like especially those nice little detail additions, they make the model looks a lot better and more realistic.

Please do not stop and add more details :D :D :D

Great Work as always!

Kevin: Congrats on your win in the contest! Keep up your good work!!

Your Scorpion is also a very nice model, and you are bringing it along handsomely.

The turret assembly of the Scorpion (developed by Alvis UK, I believe), was adapted to the Canadian Cougar wheeled FSV.

I will follow this post with interest!
