Morning all. Might clear up - 30s. Going to the funeral in a short while - it's way on the other side of Chicago so I'm driving a van full of us. Paid $48 to fill the van last night - see in the Trib this morn where speculators expect $200 a barrel for oil with a year. Yikes! Have to learn to ignore the media - only read toy train mags. ;)

No major modeling last night. We had Cub Scout Den Meetings and rough cuts for Pine Wood Derby cars.

Tom, We did that in the Indian Guides. I modified one of the car bodies by bashing it with a red light and siren, that is available in the cheap police/ambulance cars available. Then painted it Black/White. It was a real hit wit the kids, being chased by a police car with lights flashing.

Ozzy, Looking forward to a good report from the Dr. today!

John F, Hope your computer gets better, when mine had that problem it was the Power Supply. But I'm not an expert either!! Sounds like your schedule is quite enjoyable!! Lot better than working this weekend.

OTTS Guys - I got the certificate framed, and have had it in various locations trying to decide where it will be best suited. Short term going to keep it in standing frame to take advantage of photo opps.

RT good luck on your sales, hope everything works out for you !!

Doug
- I like your rationale, I too avoid the news, its not as depressing, also finding the quality of the news reports are really degenerating. Significance of stories dimenished, seems more and more sensationalized and for ratings.

Back from funeral. Traffic wasn't bad - they had a nice lunch too - in a restaurant right by the CN main line to the south ! Now to catch up on some work.

Question for all of you computer experts. My main computer has developed a problem. When I start it, it lights up for about 2 seconds and then shuts down. Any suggestions before I start to tear it apart? I built this one several years ago and it has been a solid runner ever since. Put in a new hard drive a couple of months ago and had no problems. BTW I am typing this on my laptop. My first though is that it may be a power supply, but that is just a guess.

One more thing, they are building a new HO layout at the museum so there will be something new to see if you have been there before.

My brotherinlaws pc did that and it was a power supply problem the 115vac/220vac switch was on the wrong setting:shock: that switch is usaly red and recesed in the back of power supply so that it won't accidently get switched but sometimes they do anyway that is the first thing I would check and you do not even need tools just look for it on the back of the computer if that does not do it you need a guru with knowledge of what the beeps mean when booting up as they have a code and a meaning to each string of beep(s).

Evening all. Deer fed. They came running down the path after I drove up the hill a little ways and stopped. Only sprinkles today. Storms maybve tomorrow. LAZ, remember I was concerned that the remote of the Legacy was left on charge for about 12 hours and was still flashing red. Figured the heat might have been my problem and why I had to reboot. Well, left it on charge [was showing one bar] for about 6 hours. Went up and for the first time lights were on green. Shipped Tom 3 boxes of odds and ends. Some good cars in there. Got some cleaning done too. More tomorrow.

Off to watch TV. Later

Thank you, CHUCK!!! :-D WOW!!! :-o I am overwhelmed that you would give me such a great gift. I opened the box you sent me. The Lionel Chessie GP-38 will look terrific on my layout!!
And the best part is that it has two motors. :thumb: (If your remember the Chief sent me one without motors.)

Ozzie...Sounding good. Caught it in time.

Hey guys,
nothing much to report, other than it poured German Shepards and Siberian Tigers almost all day today. I probably won't be on Sat. because I'm part of a team participating in this 'construction challenge' competition, and it's taking place far away. If my team wins, we'll all go to Vegas, Baby! Also, got exams comming up next week, got three of 'em next tuesday:curse: Ah well, at least I get a four day week end after the exams.

Cheers,
CNWman

Well, it is official, I started on the doll house. Did the foundation tonight. I could have done more, but with the help of my 3 and 5 year olds, I figured it best not to get into too many parts at one time.

RT, Like the list. As you say, real simple isn't it?

Took the car in to get it serviced before the trip to Orlando. Another $1100.00. Seems every time we take it in, it is over $1K. Anyway, we like the way it drives and it is a safe car. Wife is eying up a Honda Odessy. We may go that route, but I have to make sure none of my friends sees me driving it....oh the shame.
Hope everyone has a great night.
God Bless,
Dennis

Dennis, That is a start. Don't forget, paint before you assemble.

Thanks to all who offered computer advice. I will probably have a little time tomorrow to dig into it and see what I can find. BTW, it is not the selector switch on the power supply.

Picked up a few goodies at Barry's Train Shop this afternoon. Will post some pictures soon.

Ozzy, All the best to you, sounds like it shouldn't lay you up to long.

CHIEF, glad all is well with LEGACY. I have no problems yet with my unit. Knock on wood. Everything runs good except my K-line tank engine. I run it on legacy runs real slow if I switch to Cab1 NO PROBLEMS. Go Figure. Everything else runs great.

Hey, Sir James! We've got some Key Lime pie if you want some. Got the car done for my son (uh, with him, ah-hem). Put the evil emperor on the tobagun and added a "rope" made from a piece of copper wire, 12 ga. Can cut off some to make weight if we have to do so.

Keep losing internet, apparently it's a firewall thing - need to figure something out, so ttfn

Huh, working now? Laz, did you get that FEF yet?

Ace of Cake is making a King Kong on Skull Island cake, very cool!

Guess I'm the last one on, so I'll change the pot, and say good night!

Try this again.

Ozzy - Thats really great news, sounds like its going to work out OK !! Will keep my fingers crossed.

John - I thought you had an extra pwr sup? Or are they too old? Still think it is the power supply. But that would be awfully easy, huh?

Dennis
- You must be using the same mechanic as me. That's exactly what happens when I take a car in ...... $1k gone.

Buckeye
- Did you ever get that dummy to run?

Chief & Laz - Question ? On the bottom of the Legacy base unit there is this switch. Its has 2 positions ON and Off, its for the Charger. If the handheld battery indicator says it has a charge why not put that switch in the OFF position? AND THEN, when the handheld shows LOW, then put the switch in the ON position? Just a thought.
