Good Morning All from NE Ohio
where winter is ready to return to the North Coast!

The beach parties are over for now, but we all had a great time at them! :thumb:

Today we will be dismantling an S gauge layout what has been donated to the museum. It's only track and switches, but its a start.

Chuck, gas up here as been at $3.19 for 2 weeks now. :curse: It jumped from $2.86 to 3.19 in an hour! wall1

Don - the shelf looks great :thumb:

from our last OTTS meeting (not my layout)

Morning all. Sunny today and back to normal (30s). Class went well last eve.

Commiserated with my old-head conductor friend on the commute home - he always thumbs through CTT with me - one of his good buddies with 40 yrs on the road was killed a few hours before by a train coming from an unexpected direction at the Waukegan stop. Isn't that sad?

Sad news Doug. I have had things like that happen. Causes one to take pause and reflect. Hope his family is doing OK. Ordered some UQ signals from Z-Stuff for the layout. A little birthday present to myself. Wife picked something up for me too, but I haven't seen it yet. May God meet you all at your need.

Greetings from the Heartlands!

If you like old style Western movies with modern technology you might want to rent "3:10 To Yuma". Just finished watching and I did enjoy it, Russell Crowe was amazing and there was an actual live steam engine. I have the extra features playing right now, very interesting historical lore.

Doug, sorry to hear of the death of the railroader. Goes to show it is a dangerous profession!

Starting to cool down after a warm weekend. Rain last night was very welcome. Hope more rain comes tomorrow.

Heard on the radio that there was an earthquake in Ohio - 3.0 on the Richter scale. Seismologists believe that thousands of OSU fans were banging their heads simultaneously. wall1wall1wall1

Sorry - couldn't resist that!

Civic duties over. Big crowd and lots of reporters. Doug, thought that kind of things was almost non-existant. Sorry. Maybe time for trains. Took back the new answering machine and its portables. When called, message was garbled. Do a test message and recording fine. This new one did the same. Read instructions, said talk 9" from microphone/speaker in normal voice. Kept testing messages unitl I got one that could be understood. 3 feet back and whispering. :curse: Guess the one returned was OK too. Went to pond. 4 deer following truck to the corner. When I turned around they walked off about 20 feet int eh woods. Got out and gave them my whistle. they stood and watched. Then kids came out of the house on the hill and they trotted around me staying about 50 feet away. Finally could not see them anymore. Will go back later and feed them. Tow guys asking for someone on CTT. Got my new OGR mag today. Later

Dr John, we felt it last night. The closer to the Lake the stronger it was. I just thought that Buckeye was still stooping his feet!.

OK, Dr. John started it.

What does the Ohio State Football team and marijuana have in common?

They both get smoked in bowls

Sorry Buckeye, Dr. John made me do it

At least with the Hawkeye's this year we didn't have to worry about any bowl game disappointment, just upcoming court sentencing hamr

Ozzy--I fully agree, let's do it! It might be kind of fun chasing an Amtrak from Osceola going east, I'm not sure of the current schedule but a year ago it used to come in from the west at 8:10 AM--give or take an hour  Another very busy line in the UP that parallels hwy. 30, I've got some shots of that going over the Kate Shelley bridge--FANTASTIC. Let's make sure we get together and do a day.

I haven't done a PGR ride since November, really has been quiet, which is good. I keep checking the PGR web site for missions but all's quiet which I am so thankful for. I was on 14 rides from June through November and only two of those were welcome home celebrations, those are the best. The others just break my heart, you know what I mean.

Evening Folks,
Not much in the news arena today. I had trouble getting on this site all day, I could get the page then it would freeze. this is first time today I got on. Maybe my laptop and this site don't like each other. Sunny and 43 today but lots of high wind and rain last nite. No trains ran here today just didn't get to it. Later (maybe) Sir James

i did not get to very many in 2007, in 2006 i used up 2 of my 3 weeks vacation on missions . plus i went on a lot of weekends, 2007 i was unable to take time off work, now i have to tell them i need time off a week before, well most time as you know we dont find out about the missions until 2 or 3 days before if we are lucky. and not as many on the weekends as there was. not close anyway..... (with in 300 miles one way) i have never been on a send off or welcome home ride, just the sad ones.

we should do it a couple of times this summer, one to "chase them" and one off all the steamers on display in iowa, there are 3 or 4 in iowa, maybe more. and a couple other places that has cool rolling stock. i will research iowa and draw up a couple of routes, see what you think...

there any other motorcycle rider close that would want to go from here? SPEAK UP! OR EVEN CLASSIC CAR PEOPLE!

I just read about the Ohio earthquake caused by the Buckeye fans and was wondering: why don't they call a tidal wave a tidal wave anymore?
