I am working on this track plan for N scale in Model RR'r Oct. issue but when its all cut and I placed temp blocks in place that 4" elevation in the top left corner looks really really high does this look right to anybody else or do you think I should change my elevations.
It is 21x42inches

4 inches does sound like alot. If that is a 4' x 8' layout, then I estimate a 3.3% grade to get from 0 inches at the lower right to 4 inches at the upper left. I would consider cutting the elevations in half, although I haven't really looked at the plan to determine if the 4 inch rise is their for a reason.

Are you sure you don't want to do a shelf layout instead?

Actually, I would leave out the grade and follow the scenery example. On a layout like that with the track going up and down for no real reason, it tends to look like a roller coaster. Toy like. My opinion.

The more I sit and look at the photo and think about the board maby I might just have everything at a two in elevation and drop into the 0 and one inch in the creek/vally area but keep the ideas going

I think the elevations are completely cuckoo. The layout is less than 2 feet by 4 feet. Some of the elevation markers look to be about a foot apart for a 1" difference -- that's 8%. I would go with cutting the elevations down to a quarter or less of what they show, or even making it flat.
I think there is something seriously wrong in MR's proofing department; maybe the plan was original for Garden Railways.

You're right. I just noticed it says 21 x 42. And a 4 inch rise in those deminsions is completely off.

The wall was made from match sticks took a while but took small box matches and trimmed each one then stacked them all along the wall there gluing them all in place one at a time.
wife said I had to much time on my hands but I told her better then sitting in the bar huhsign1

I agree with you.
