Pretty happy day today to say the least! The hand painted cars need metal wheels, but other then that I'm happy with the haul.

Are you suprised I am the first to comment? Very nice stuff, but please do tell, what one of those did you get for me?

Was that all from Carrs? If so, do they have a lot of custom painted Missabe cars? I have not been there in a few years.

Nope, not surprised at all that you're are the first to comment:wave:.Uhm....what do you want?sign1

Everything came from Carr's Hobbies and he usually has a fair amount of custom painted stuff laying around. One thing I have noticed is that whomever is doing it for Jack now does a much better job then the last guy.

Well, I like the DM&N hopper myself. But anyway I hope to come up there in the spring for a little railfanin, and of course, a visit to carrs.

I posted a thread, but no response. Maybe you can answer. I heard that CN plans on getting rid of most/all SD38's in '08. Is this true, I think it would be a bad buisseness move, whats wrong with them? I need to join the Missabe historical society, so I can stay informed.

Of course, you can't come all the way up here and not go there:thumb:.

From what I here they are phasing out all of the SD38-2's and most of the SD40-3's.They're keeping a few SD40-3's and all of them are painted CN except one and they'll get to it sooner or later.Apparently they are sending up some SD40-2's to replace them from their IC division. They have also apparently had a SD70 up in Proctor for the guys to check out:cry:.

None of this makes sense to me,but what can you do?And to think this all came about because CN had to use a few miles of DM&IR trackage to get to Duluth:rolleyes:.

I don't like it either, but at least I have my memories of seeing them work on Ore Dock 6 and doing switch work at the downtown BNSF yard and Missabe Junction.

Yes, but unlike you, I have never been able to watch the trains, other then on Dock 6. But this spring I will have a truck (I get my liscense in January) and if I cant get off work, I will at least make a few weekend trips. I want to find a way into Two Harbors yard to get some pics, and some pics at Highland, Biwabik, and a few other places. But the Missabe WILL live on forever in HO. You will NEVER see a CN painted loco on MY layout.:thumb: . That brings us back to your haul of stuff. They will soon be and already have become collectibles.

Unfortunantly you'll be watching CN trains and not DM&IR ones:cry:.Two harbors is a great place to go and so is Biwabik-Keewatin,but you should also try to get to their Steelton yard.It has a fair amount of traffic and you'll see everything,I've seen photos of UP,NS,CSX and BNSF units coming and going from there along with CN and all of it's subdivisions.

Thanks Josh,it was a good day.
