Morning!

Ozzy: Prayers for you. Keep us posted.

Brutus: Sold out of the Buro Crane at Ryders, Bride said they had a bunch of them...no ETA on the next ones. I may try another local shop...Maybe Wild Bill's. (Sir James haunt) Shouldn't really buy anything out of state right now. Michigan economy is really bad. Trying to keep $$$ local.

Spankybird: Those cars are georgeous!

Cleaned most of the 2025 motor I bought first of December...EEeekkks. Rollers were froze up, roller arms burned. Looks like it got stuck, shorted, and they applied more voltage and welded everything together. A little sanding and filing, and rollers are running smooth! Rollers and arms will need replacing. Now to tap out a few dents in those big baldwin disks...and we'll give it a go!

Dr. John. Had some rail height problems with Realtrax. On section a little higher than the other. Filed them. Switches were even worse. Now the new track sections, the center rail is not a wide as the older track. Almost like a blade. MTH is getting "cheaper" and "cheaper" butnot in $$$.

GOOD MORNING,
Dr. John- I have BCRs in all my MTH engines, they work great. Just wait the 1 minute for charging each first startup. I quit buying that co's engines because of the battery start up. Too bad as they make some really nice looking engines
Kurrt- last trip to Wild Bills, they had a burro crane,I believe it was PRR kind of a gray I believe but not sure.
We have 32 and a little wet snow nothing sticking, just falling.
Sir James------The sun just came out, so there.

i had read somewhere that one or two of the track manufactures was going to a thin center rail, like a 1/16' blade. as it looks more "realistic" harder to see the center rail, i think the price of the track was going to cost more then the old style tho. i cant remember what brands now. i think you would not get as good of contact with it tho.

She has all the Polar Express pieces except for the new tender. Is that worth getting? :?::?::?::?::?:
Buckeye - if you are referring to the PE sound tender, the sound quality is not very good.

Buckeye, Have you considered the REA Steam Sound Car? :thumb: (Lionel) That is what we use, and very satisfied with the sound. Even the chatter. The REA markings and color are not PE, but it works well, Christmas Gifts! Obviously we use it on other trains as well. Then of course there is the Alaska diesel sound car too.

There's a guy on another board who goes by Thor and I think he was modifying fasttrack to have a very thin center rail - I think he was using wire?

Yeah, filing is an option. I'll live with the rough trackage for now, since it's only a temporary layout. But it's a shame that so-called "ready-to-run" track has to be filed, twisted, beaten, etc. for it to work properly. I can imagine the frustration for newcomers to the hobby!

Dr. John...May I suggest " tubular ". :thumb:

Hello everyone! been a bit on the rainy side lately, no complaints as this area desperately needs it. Not much going on. Did some follow up blood work to make sure my cholesterol meds are doing their job. Also making sure no hepatitis, etc. (common in my profession).

Sent off money for that Palisades Park car that I got off the Bay. Looking forward to it as I used to go there when I was a kid. While I am here playing on the computor, my bride is home picking up after the festivities. Wrapping paper from one end of the house to the next. Kids would open one present, start to play and then get another one out.

Before I go, let me just say that I really appreciate the folks here and the moderators for letting us stop by and chat.
God Bless,
dennis

John,
Not to get off the trains theme here, but on the dollhouses, where do you buy most of your supplies? Also, what is your source for "Weldbond", "Grandmother Stover's Stikflat Glue" ? My bride and daughter are on me to get this thing done soon.

Thanks,
dennis

Don - what a great looking set that Chief sent you. We have that set in HO at the museum. Sure wish we had one in O gauge also!

Ozzy - My home layout is 10' x 20' with all O27 track at 027 dia. We also have a second layout (Circus layout) that is 5' x 8' also with 027 track.

And yes we run large engines on it.

I found out yesterday that my old flatbed scanner won't work with Windows XP. I checked the HP website but they don't have an updated driver for it. So, today I went to Wal-Mart and got a new HP F4135 scanner/printer/copier all-in-one. It was priced at 48.89 and was very hard to pass up. It uses the same type cartridges my current printer does so now I have an extra set of cartridges for printer. I got the new unit solely for the flatbed scanner that's on it.

you have a nice layout from what i can see from the pics. 10 x 20, hmm i have room for a 5x20 , or a 20x8 L shape, i have over 150 feet of o27 track in box's, seeing your pic's makes me want to go back to 027 track, but then i would not be able to run 1/2 my trains on the curves. even if they could run on the curves , with the space i have my texas sp train would look mike its chasing its tail, its 14 foot long with the ABA and all 8 cars. im hopping to be moved in a year or so and will have room.

Thanks, Roy. Did you see the lump of coal posting this year?

Ozzy...We are thinking about you. Ride the wave!!

Chief...Please tell Pam thanks for the nice gift she sent me. :-D BTW, I am sure glad I forced you to start posting on the caboose.

Don...Steam sounds car sounds like a great idea. How does it work in conventional mode? I wonder if you purchased a Lionel Christmas car could you change out the shells.
