Perhaps you and I can do some bussiness. I'm going to need 9,000 tons of iron ore a month to keep DRSC alive.

My mine will certainly be able to help you out. Not only do I have in-ground ore grade haematite, I also will be constructing a beneficiation pellet plant for my taconite reserves. There will be much more iron ore than what my small mill needs and excess will be exported pending completion of the ore dock.

You can send ore via boat until the Great Lakes freeze up in the winter, assuming that is where his mill is, and I can send via rail in the winter. I think its about time the DMIR purchases some full size hoppers, they can haul all the way to slagpots layout.

The lumberyard scene is pretty much done. All I need now is a building or two and more lumber. Here are some pics. There is a small junk pile next to the tree. looks alot better without all that pink.

The last pic is for you TruckLover, the truck looked preety sweet when it had my scratchbuilt wood truss on it, might have to find it.

More progress.

I have got a little more track laid, a recieing track at my taconite plant (well only roadbed there) and the first of three tracks in my loco storage area and caboose track. I also set up a few of my new trees for photo use.

I really like the looks of this layout and I think you are coming along great. :thumb:

Those trees look excellent as well, did you make them? If not, what brand of commercial trees are they?

Thanks, the trees are from Grand Central Gems and they are nice, and the price is not all that bad, and I need A LOT of them. The light greem one that stands out, was out of a dollar store set that I "upgraded"

Oh No!!!

I went down to see what was happenin on the RR today and found THIS!!!! Actually that is a fictionous (is that a word?) scene.
PS, no cars were harmed during the making of this scene.

Anyway, to my suprise, the temporary bridge had already been taken out and the track was currently being removed. I saw a few Missabe vehicles down at the site checking out the progress. They saw me watching from a distance and let me get right up in the action to take pics (they recognize me because Im always taking pics somewhere) as long as I put on a hard hat and put the pics on the guage. I happily agreed. The supervisor said the bridge instalation is ahead of schedule and once all track is removed they can add scenery.:v8:

The Missabes will soon have a new loco on its roster. The guys in the diesel shop over in proctor are moving along converting an old SD-9 into a SDM, you can follow the progress. http://forum.zealot.com/t155348/

She will handle all most all yard movements and non taconite frieght moves. When she is done most if not all the remaining units on lease from other RR's can head back home to their own rails. An all Missabe loco fleet will be very fun.

Wow, I am already on the 7th page in this thread, that must mean I am making good progress.

Actually the DMIR did (and still does under CN) ship a lot of taconite in "all rail" trains throughout the US. Ore or taconite pellets can be shipped in full size hoppers - but because of the ore's weight, the hoppers can only be filled about halfway.

That is why I am purchasing the full size hoppers. So I can send my taconite via rail in the winter months, very realistic operation.
