Well, Jim F and John F looked for a JD combine for me. John F found some 1/64 scale. Jim F stumbled on this 1/50 scale on EBay from a lady in MN. Thanks guys for the help.

HI GIZ,
2hr delay here for me. Downed trees on back roads because of 40 mph winds. Oh well I'll take it.
CHIEF, nice haul.
TOM, how bout that snow bowl in CLEVELAND yesterday. Wish I could have watched that game.
B safe,

Good Morning..................
It is cold outside. 10 degrees with wind chill. Snow on the ground. About 2 inches. Going up to 32 today, with no new snow.
Today is busy. Have a few projects to work on around the house. Getting ready for company this weekend. No trains today.
Everyone have a nice day.

Morning all. Red hots and sweet rolls for breakfast. Luncheon with Town folks and County Fire Officials to talk about a big ladder truck for Town. Clear and cold here after all the wind. Now to eat and then play Legacy. LAZ and Don, eat your hearts out. :thumb: Later.

Good morning folks

We had a windy overnight and morning. I found a lot of branches and leaves in the yard on my way out. The temperature was 30 F and with the 40 MPH gusts it felt like it was in the teens. We are under a Wind Advisory until this afternoon and our high should be 38 F. The big storm over the weekend kind of fizzled. We got a little bit of freezing rain but it quickly changed over to rain but not in the heavy rain predicated.

We did the usual bi-weekly grocery store adventure which actually wasn’t bad. I think everyone was at the mall. We also did our family Christmas photos and a little Christmas shopping.

I did not make it to Greenberg’s Train Show like I had hoped. Mikey did you make it?

I did finish painting the railings on the coil cars. I started sealing the hoods but I ran out of Dullcoat halfway through. I still have to weather the coil cars and hoods. I also began working on all of my trailer on flatcars. I have 5 Athearn blue box kits which are assembled to weather. On one of them I had to repair the coupler box. On another I have to change the car number. I have a TOFC with same number already weathered. I also have two Athearn RTR cars to weather. Nothing got done on the layout.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Frank53 - Don't you just love laying down track and fitting it together!

Tom:

While track planning software is nice, there is no substitute for having the open space and just laying stuff down until it works.

With that said, this is probably the final . . .

In order to get the tracks on the immediate right side of the center opening closer together, I removed the crossover from inner to outer loop and moved it to the far right with a second track hugging the outer loop.

The diagram is misleading, as the tracks to the immediate right of the center opening are much closer together. I opted to go back to having the outer loop duck under the upper level in the upper right corner, as this gives me the room I want for a complex of structures in this corner.

I now have enough room to have the structures on the right back up to the track and have a reasonably wide street with a passenger station immediately to the right of the center opening. Likewise, I have a larger city area directly in front of the opening and I have smoothed out the areas to the left so I can wind a dirt road into the area within the trestle.

I may yet smooth our some curves, but I am pretty certain I have hit the right combination of track and structures.

' Morning all from a freezing and grey Crystal Lake. Great photos, Chief, I am jealous and happy for your finds. Would you mind sharing where you found the 1:50 JD combine? I have been looking for something to liven up some farm acreage.

Frank53, is the coal tower too tall to fit a way down from the station - or can it be placed in conjunction with a water tower so the train could pull in, exchange LCL and passengers and then coal / water up before moving on. I'll bet it is tall enough to interfere with some of the elevated track so has to be in the front of the layout somewhere.

I've been rereading the Linn Wescott book on John Allen's famous G&D layout - and was amazed at how much he enjoyed planning - even years in advance. I personally like to just put things out and mess around with track - probably as a result of my not being able to adjust or move my 'benchwork' - a rock-filled crawlspace.

I've swapped the trains running normally 'freight' and 'passenger' main lines to allow the freight pullers to have more sidings to pull or store things. After a weekend of fun pondering, I've decided to just move cars between lines with a Giant Skyhook instead of trying to jam in a double-switch which didn't line up well with my 027 track.

still much figuring to do regarding what goes where Doug, and I appreciate the suggestion.

Here, however, is better view of how this area has opened up for the passenger station with enough room for a full sized street with sidewalks:

Looks like continued good progress, Frank! The building mock-ups really give a sense of where you're going with your plans.

Cold and sunny in Prattville. At least the wind has died down. Started the day in the mid-20s. May get to the mid-40's later today.

Fighting sinus drainage and coughing my fool head off. Hot coffee helps cut through it some.

Hope y'all are having a good Monday thus far!

yup... Same ol' Same ol' :( :( Not much Large Scale... They charged $5.00 to park and $7.00 to get in :( No-one was happy about that.....

About 1/2 the vendors that were normally at Ft Washington.. Not very many bargains either.. (As always)...

It took about 1.5 hours to give it a good look, and that was passing those tables that have the same stuff every year, because they can't sell them for the prices they want.. :( When are these people gonna learn, that this ain't New york.. and e-bay is cheaper - even including shipping!?!?!?!?!:eek::eek::eek:

Oh well... it's still nice to look around and see the layouts.. the G scale garden Railway was there with their canvas sacks and trolly :) :)

D.A.R.N. was there - all the standard modules and 2 or 3 updated ones.. Nice to see progress on the layout :) one was of the C&D canal "that bridge with the suspended pipeline next to it" and more work on the factory section that was mostly vacant a few years ago...

Overall it was nice, but it never ceases to amaze me, that the vendors don't sell the G, N & Ho stuff that is running on the displays.. You would think that someone would see how neat it looks and want to buy it... :( :( :( :(

We'll have to see if it comes back there......

Good Morning All from NE Ohio
Where the temp is 25 deg with lake effect snow coming down.

Frank53 - I have built several layout with many different types of track and I love to use either tube track or GG (which is tube track) and cut it as needed. Good part of GG is you can bend it as needed. :thumb:

I am glad that Chief is being a Bata test site on Legacy. I am sure any problems that he has can be solved with Grits.

Afternoon from the two holer. Stopped in to check emails and etc. Finished meeting and lunch. Now back to the house. Tom P, GRITS will do it. Doug M, EeBay. I'll send you the lay's contact info in case she can find some more. Also, John F has some info on 1/64 scale which is probably not noticable in difference. Later

Went to the docs office this morning for my regular appointment. They did a couple of X-rays and found that I've broken my foot again. In three places! I don't feel a single one of them. This makes thirteen times I've broken it since 2004.

With all of the ice storms we've had recently I have done lots of shopping on the internet and here we go again. I have a package that once again originated in Hendersonville, NC on Friday---it's now in Knoxville, TN  wall1

Last night I made my last purchase and it's coming from MPLS, MN :thumb::thumb:

It's tough sitting here thinking about all this stress :p

Good afternoon,

Weather has not been good to our area. Yesterday morning we woke up to everything covered with ice. After lunch the wind really started to blow bringing down tree limbs and wires. Daughter had no electric from the time they woke up until about 7 PM last evening. Woke up again this morning with no electric and when I talked to her about 2:00 PM still had no electric. Luckily they have a small generator that will keep the oil burner going and a few other items. Our electric stayed on this time but a lot of the surrounding areas are still without power.

While the grandkids were here last evening the 4 year old and I ran trains. While I was keeping an eye on her, I rear ended another train with my Lackawanna Consolidation, Duh! wall1 BTW, she likes to run the Galloping Goose.

I bought a Lionel ABA EMD Demo Set from an ebay dealer in NJ that I know pretty good. It didn't go for his minimum bid so I made him an offer and he took it. It is early TMCC w/railsounds 4.0 and pullmore motors. It arrived at the business today and Jean is bringing it home with her (can't sneak this one in  ). Will check it out this evening. Maybe give it a test spin.

I did finish the roof on the Dollhouse, now for the floors and trim pieces.

Just finish catching up since Friday. Glad everyone is doing well. Chief, how do you like the Legacy so far? I have one ordered and hope it is here soon.
Finished with the filming and now we are in the edit phase of things. Now that this is done, I can catch up on Honey Dos and then get back to working on my trains!
Hope everyone has a great week.

Just helped a friend bring over his Olympic weight set for the middle boy - the entire thing takes up half the basement - hmmm, maybe I should try them out too. ;) Very cold here - John, hope your family gets power back.

Evening all. Back from Mayor's Christmas Party. 11 Mayors and lots of Town Commissioners/Aldermen. Good food.

Got meeting at school at 10AM and meeting with new Mayor of adjorning town [free lunch :thumb:]. Early meeting here at house with wife's niece. In some trouble and her Mom wants me to help out. 21 and a Mom. Needs to grow up and take responsibility. But like Mother, like Daughter. Big problem is it is my pet pieve. DUI. Told her Mom they should have kept her in jail. Always been against DUI folks. My partner when I worked as an aux Wildlife Officer was hit headon by drunk one night while partner was on patrol. We did not know if he was going to live or die for 30 days. Since then, I've been "death" on DUI's. Her Mom wants me to lecture her. She's not my Daughter. wall1

LAZ, did you get your Legacy? Expected to see grat posts from you. Maybe it got him and he will not be heard of since.:mrgreen:

Good night.

Hey, all! Just got in from our staff Christmas party. Lots of good food! Boy, am I stuffed.

Jeffrey, sorry to hear about your foot. Hope it heals up okay.

John, sorry to hear about the power outages - hope things are back to normal.

Chief - tough situation. Maybe you could put the "fear of God" in her. It always comes down to the person wanting to change. Until then, it doesn't matter what anyone says or does.

Another cold one tonight, down in the 20's. That's COLD for down south!

Good night, all!
