Morning, all!

Cold and sunny in Dixie this a.m. 30 degrees and a nice covering of frost. Should warm up to mid 60's later today. Still need rain! Anyone in the Pacific northwest want to send some our way?

Jeffrey - very nice shot of the SD-40-2! I like the lower camera angle - makes you feel like you're standing in front of the engine rather than over it.

If some of you haven't checked out the Photo sections, you've missed a treat! Some really nice modelling presented here (even if most of it is in the smaller scales! ).

Have a good day, everyone! :thumb:

Another cold morning.... Snow showers on the way..We might get an entire inch!!! :D just enough to make people forget how to drive!:eek::eek:

Thought Yankees knew how to drive in SNOW!!! No, it the Yankees moved South that mess up the driving down here when we have snow. "I know how to dirve in this stuff", they say. Then they slide all over the place and get in ditches and block the roads. :curse:

Morning. Interview and then meeting with school system. GRITS ready so off to breakfast. Watching old John Wayne [black & white] western. Hope to finish the layout board for the kid today. Been so chilly and I have to do it outside. Had the board coverd with tarp. Later.

Congrats Chief! Just got back yesterday afternoon from Texas. Was a great time in that I got to see the pinning for my buddy who made Lt. Col. Was a nice event. Met the Sgt.Major who captured Sadam. Then, got to see a little leage football game followed by a Texas state semi finals for high school....they really take football seriously, the high school football coach is the highest paid employee in the county!

Laz, did some hunting down there one morning, got a Corsican Ram...real pretty animal. Having it shoulder mounted.
Only downer to the trip was that Delta lost my rifle. They found it last night and shipped it. I hope it arrives today.

I will try to post photos later of the ram and a nice BNSF engine I was able to get a shot of.
No train work, but I did get to read my CTT while flying around.
Hey Chief, I noticed no mention of the Rolesville station. Need to have some train theme there. You could call your train room the "Eagles Nest", or "where Eagles Dare".
Just got back from the door, they delivered my rifle...Horay!
Hope everyone has been well and blessed.

Good morning folks

It was 28 F on my way to the office. Our high today is supposed to be 33 F. They say we should be getting some snow today. We are under a Snow Advisory for an inch or two.

I got no modeling done last night. We have Cub Scout den meetings.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning from a snowy Chicago where just enough fell to slush things up. I yanked another one of the remote switches that died last evening - for a manual one. I think I isolated it correctly - it links to a section powered by another transformer. I put one insulating pin in the center and the closest-in rail -did I do that right?

Ran Percy the Green Engine for the first time last evening - he's bigger than I expected - love that magnatraction! Cant' get his whistle to blow yet using the sound button on my transformer.

If you liked that shot you'll probably love this one.

Morning!

I hope everyone is well. I haven't heard of any new illnesses....

About 1+" of snow here, just a dusting.

Very delicate painting in this weather...but I got the Birney frame painted. I was having so much fun with it I didn't want to take it apart. Ran trains most of the morning. Nothing says Christmas better than popping in an SP and filling up the Living Room with that sweet aroma. 10 boxcars including 3-milk cars, spans half the layout. Official Christmas layout consist will be (2) Christmas Present Dump Cars, and (5) Disney cars, pulled by the 2025.

Nope - we get about (4 big 3" - 4") snow falls a year here the rest are dustings to an inch -- 30" total average.... We might get 6 "events" a year....

From March to December we get rain. So from March to December, people forget how to drive. All those new drivers in those months never drove in snow.. so it makes for a bit of fun during the first few, 'till people get used to it. :D :D :D

Would you believe that most accidents happen during morning rush hour???:rolleyes::rolleyes:

People actually try to leave at a "normal" time and try to make it to work in snow....in the same amount of time they make it in July...

Not too good at all....................

Mikey,

I used to think that too, but a couple of weeks ago, when we had about an inch, we had quite a few accidents and I noticed all of the ones that made the papers involved drivers between 46 & 85, don't think they were beginners.

Weather here is cold and snowing. Prediction is for 1-3", have about an inch now and it looks to be slowing so probably that is about it. Hope so! :thumb: Since Laz is north of us, he probably wont get as much as us.

Did put the heater in the pond this morning as a skim of ice was forming.

Laz, got lucky in that the airline found my rifle and delivered it today. They had several other packages to deliver, so I am not alone.

Jon, thanks for the article. I enjoyed that.

Hi guys,

It's 3 pm and it's 42 degrees and overcast. Not sure what's with the weather post but I contribute.

Yesterday was eventful for us and today is just adding to it. Wife went to one of her docs yesterday and ended up having a heart catherization"sp"this morning, which went well and they found no blockages, so that's awesome news.

I went to the my wound doc yesterday and he said that my next visit in two weeks should be my last with them.bounce7 He also said that the surgeon should sign me off next week over in Seattle.

Now for the fun stuff*L* went to the train store and I bought some more track. Not that I'll get to use it this week. Hoping to get the tables built next week. And the wife picked up my Christmas present order.:mrgreen::mrgreen: I am lucky to have a wife who will buy me toys for Christmas *LOL*

Nice pics Jeffrey! Doug - if you insulate the center rail, is that part of a separate block? Getting ready in case we get some snow here as well - stopped at HD tonight and picked up 240 pounds of sand for my pickup truck - I like to have plenty of weight over the back tires. My favorite is watching the folks who just got a 4wd vehicle find out that 4 wheels slide on ice too. Ordered the passenger cars for my ATSF 19th C trainset - can't wait!

HI GIZ,
Got 3 inches of SNOHIO this afternoon. Got out of school early at 1215. Came home did workout, took dog for walk, cleaned out turtle tank and did laundry. Then ran trains for half hour. Just got done running trains for 1.5 hours, NO PILE UPs. Yeah for me. Great nite.
Hope for 2hr delay tomorrow.

Yeah, I am glad too. As for the meat, I gave it to one of my friend's first seargent. He had it made into sausage as the meat would be tough. I would have brought it back, but the length of the trip was a bit tough to be toting meat with ice. My intention is to go back for some buffalo and red stag, but I would drive my truck for them. Too much to ship as the FAA has declared dry ice to be a HazMat so you have to pay the additional fees which get VERY EXPENSIVE.

I won a auction for some Williams heavyweight passenger cars to go with the Williams GG1 that I bought a few years ago. God a good deal, set of 6 for $65.00. I look forward to getting them, but SWMBO may have something to say with regard to my train restrictionannounce1
Anyway, hope everyone has a great day.
