Morning all. Out to shovel sleet. Later to talk with daughter about more drama in her life-after-boyfriend. Worked up 2 sidings - don't like how it looks - realized I don't have activating tracks so best I could do was push cars with an old #41. Have to think this through some more... Nice photos..

Was going your way middle of Jan but am sending a guy from WI. I figured too much snow for me. Had to go to Post Falls ID for Cabela's Grand Opening. Who ever heard of a Grand Opening in Jan in that area?:confused: Welcome

:welcome1::welcome1: You'll like it here !! Nice & laid back !!

Well, just waiting for the rain to stop here & turn into snow pretty soon.
Just sort of checking in. After 3 yrs. of owning this one used Atlas diesel, today I tried the smoke system & got it working, after I found out you have to blow down the stack !! Even though I had read that before I never tried it till today on this eng. Been having to do that all the time on my new Atlas steamer.
Hope everyone is having a nice day !!
Thanks, John

Not sure if I am misunderstanding you about Cabelas but it opened in Nov. nice store but I really don't see what all the hype is about. We also have a Sportsman's Warehouse and in my book they both are in the same ball park. Cabelas has more on display and a few bells and whistles in my opinion.

And thanks for the welcome. Been around for a little while and found a group of great friends.

Nice pic Jeffrey, you do good work!

Got back from KC - had nice pre-Christmas Christmas with wife's family. Was supposed to go to train store with FiL and son. BiL and nephew decided to tag along and somehow the train store got deleted from plans. OTOH - we went to the WWI museum which was terrific and while we were there, a visiting expert showed up and gave a special tour about WWI tank warfare that ended with us getting a peek at a new buy - a WWI French tank (MT17?) type used by Patton! This one was "killed" by a piece of field artillery and the engine was blown up. I took pics on my phone and if I can download them, I'll post them one day.

Hope the Steamer is working better, John and hope your yard is coming along Doug and hope you get your BB back soon Don, etc! Sorry guys, too much to respond to, but I read all the posts!

Dunno why, but I just checked the front door on a whim and found a box that has been sitting in a puddle all weekend
icon_smile_sad.gif
Inside were my new MTH W&ARR cannon car, arrista figures, gargraves pins and protosmoke (Christmas flavor). Box fell apart but everything else looks like it's okay - will watch for rust though!

Hey Laz - could be worse, I had to listen to Sooner Sooner, Sooner Sooner yesterday, (yawn). MIZ-ZOU, let me down again. Oh well, no $$$ involved.

Krawler, that is why I do not like to work Cabela's Grand Openings. They open the store weeks before they do their Grand Openings. Then it is slow customer wise. They do throw grand parties though. Bass Pro on the other hand does their Grand Openings at the Grand Opening. Will not be doing anymore or very few in the future. Mayor's job has taken its place.

I did good waving from my convertible at the parade. Santa was in a white horse drawn carriage. Pam did good feeding a large crowd. All had fun. She and Beth went shopping [how she survived I don't know as she "died" on th couch when she got home] so I cleared the backroom and put the big MP E6's on the track. Fired them up. Turned on the smoke. They are great. Guess I will keep them. Big things all MU'd [ABA]. BTW: checked the odometer and it showed .3. They are new like I thought. Ran the Big Boy and the NS diesels. Was a good break. Got to finish working on those shelves in the backroom so I can store all that rolling stock piled all around.
GOOOOD NIGHT ALL.

Chief Eagles,

What exactly do you do at the grand openings, if you don't mind me asking. I would really like to go and see a bass pro shop someday.

Good Morning......................
It is a cold, windy 30 degrees. Light snow flurries. Going up to only 39 today. No major snow forecasted.
Today, I am taking the wife to her final doctor's appt. Things look well healed. Almost back to normal.
No train time today. Busy.
Everyone have a nice day.

I rep for Pro Mariner who builds on-board boat battery chargers [title is Product Specialist and Trainer] for Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops. I go to the stores for Grand Openings and Events and talk to customers about the product and train the associates.

Morning all. Cold and breezy. Had a little light rain during the early morning hours. Busy day for me. Town "stuff" this AM and then County Commissioners meeting this afternoon. Christmas tree lighting and then actual swearing in followed by Town Board. Right now, coffee and then clean kitchen as wife left all that for me.:cry:wall1 Hope all have a good week.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio
where the wind blows and the snow is coming, 1" to 15" depending on where you live. We should be 3" to 6" range at our house! :winter1:

Chuck - Come up North and have some fun building a snow man!

Someone asked about the musuem O gauge layout and I forgot to answer them. There is 3 levels of O gauge at the mountain.

1 is at 0" ground level.
2 is at 2" above ground for a slight grade change
3 is at 11" above ground. This will provide 7" clearance between track 2 and 3.

Then there is 2 levels of S gauge above that. So far only on S gauge track is in, but the second one is being started this week. :thumb:

Good morning folks

We survived our first bit of wintry weather yesterday. After all the hype it was pretty much a bust. We got a little bit of snow and then some freezing rain but not the accumulations that the weather mis-forecasters were calling for. It was 46 F when I left the house this morning. Our high will be around 49 F. We have a chance of flurries tomorrow and a chance of snow on Wednesday. I think I may finally be getting overt this cold. My daughter now seems to be the only one in the house who is still battling it.

I survived the grocery store and the bread and milk panic on Saturday. Sunday with the bad weather we stayed in the house and decorated the tree.

On the layout my son and I began adding some details to the Farm House Area. All of sudden he is interested again in “adding to the layout”. Other than that I got nothing done on work bench projects.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning from a sunny and cold Crystal Lake where it is the last day of my mini-vacation - I am going to try to wire remote 027 switches for the first time or rather set up the controllers and put the insulating pins hopefully in the right places. I love sitting on top of the layout - putting down track on the carpet and listening to Christmas music.

Welcome, Shane! Always wanted to visit Seattle - have to settle for following a train on the HO layout of the Museum of Science and Industry - runs from Chicago to Seattle. . .

Chuck, hope everything checks out well at the docs today.
