Finally...the stupid thing at last surrendered a part: the view cab!:eek: The hole this thing covered gives me access to all of the main windows, so no need to remove the base. I'll post pics later, I have homework I need to do.:curse:

I hope that you'll share with us the technique that you used to remove the cupola. That way, when the next guy asks how to do this, several of us will be able to reply. ;)

It was tricky, mainly because the cuppola aparently was also glued on! I got lucky, thought, because this glue had already worn out. What I did was I pressed in both sides of the cuppola that had the tab on them and I gently tried to wiggle the thing out. This got the cuppola moving, and I could see parts that had formerly been concealed, but I pressed one tabed side a little more and one side was finally free. Removing the seccond tab was even easier, considering I just had to pull away. Here are some pics of the now-open caboose:
