CSX heading out to work

A pair of SD70's (one bright future plus one dark...does that equal cloudy?) wait for their crew to arrive while an older B23/30-7 pulls the last of the cars to its big brother's line up.

Here are my weekly pics from this long weekend.

Adding 1 passenger car a month is going to make this a long project, but should be well worth it.

And here are the last shots from the depths of the, as of now, unnamed mountain.

I think this mountain is taking about just as long as mother nature to build.

Dear Tim
If you would be so kind as to tell me where I was when I took that picture I would really like to know. We were headed to visit my wife's cousin in Patriot Ohio, and the dog needed a stop, so I was out with him when they came by with the switcher. I know it was a power plant and that is all.

Charlie,

This is the plant that I'm thinking of.....North of Nitro, WV on Rt.35.......

Are you telling me that you were always in Ohio on that trip or did you make it into West Virginia?

Hello All!

I've been reading these photo fun threads with great interest for a while now. I just love all the different pics everyone posts.

Finally figured it was time to contribute.

The following pic represents a bit of history. Mainly, because I'll never be able to take a photo exactly like it again. The track work no longer exists. (But better things are coming!)

2007-01_-_Switcher_-_001.jpg

I took this pic shortly after deciding to get back into the hobby last year. I'd just purchased the rolling stock and loco, and had just hauled out my old 4x6 switching layout that I never completed but kept stored for 25 years. (I had sold off everything else.) Yes, that is handlaid track and handbuilt turnouts, built without a jig. It's all gone now, as I have started on something new. I'll be posting about that in the future.

Best regards,
...jim

Now I'm AMP'd
Christmas Train

Was hanging lights on the house today when I heard the unfamilar sound (Yep...Trains don't come to town much)of a diesel horn coming up the valley. Dropping my string of lights and grabbing the camera I ran out the door(to Better-Halfs surprise) and headed to the track.
It was Naugatuck Railroads U36B, with four antique heavyweights, bringing in the Christmas Train.
This U-Boat was the last Uboat off GE's line.

Another ore movement crossing Irene Bridge, while C&O no. 2541 pokes her head out of the Tucson yard.
Now lets step outside and take a look at the Arizona Garden Railways trackage....not much moving as it's 12:30 on hot August afternoon with the temp hovering around 115 degree's.
