Good morning.

Two more layers of foam and I will have all of the base down. After that I have some tweaking to do on the leveling from platform to platform and we're rolling . . .

Got something coming together here - just not quite sure what it is!
I did not want to use a lot of switches, but I may have to use a few more than I wanted to in order to achieve the crossovers, etc I need to get the two mainlines the way I want them. I also need to figure out where these two will interchange so I can move trains from the outer to inner lines:

I have also got to resist the temptation to use more track than necessary, as I want to retain as many scenic opportunities as possible.

Enjoy your Saturday . . .

Morning all. RT, I'm not hiding. Been posting here regularly for several years. Actually Tom P [Spanky Bird] found it and introduced me to it. I see you Yanks proudly display a SOUTHERN engine. :thumb:

Frank53, great job with the layout. Lots of cross overs. Can't wait to see it all running. You are the Post War champ.

Off to Miss Edna's for a while today and then back to do some more "cleaning up" in the train rooms. In-laws have 50th wedding Anv. dinner tonight so have to leave the house around 4 PM.

Have a great day.

Good Morning.......
Another cold and cloudy day. Going up to 50 with a chance of rain.
Today, I am going to try to take it easy. Been busy , with the wife recovering, in the house with chores. Ran trains yesterday afternoon. Did some dusting. All ran well.
Frank53...Your layout is looking good. Taking shape. Looks like you will have a lot of action.
Time for breakfast. Be back later.
Have a nice day.

HI GIZ,
33 and cool here to get to 44? Getting some SNOHIO tonite? Gearing up for another Saturday afternoon pheasant hunt, hope to catch two more? Then last fire outside tonite dogs and burgers hope it not to cold?
BRUTUS, I get up at 430 take dog for a 3/4 mile walk then go down stairs jump on the treadmill and go for a mile run there. Then do my ab workout and throw the weights around for about 15 minutes. Have breakfast then drive 15 minutes to school. School starts at 715 am. After school its usually a 3-4 miler about 4 days a week. Not as many miles as the summer but I'm still doing it.
Ran my BB last nite. Had friend come over with his train, he needed to put on a traction tire, so I put it on. Had a BIG derailment with the BB. One of my birch trees fell in the path of the BB. Which drug it down the tracks and cut off one of the natural trees I have before jumping the tracks and nocking over a lite standard. No one was hurt and NO damage to the BB. FWEEW!
Have a good one,

Wow Laz, glad the BB is safe and sound! I hope you take a shower in there somewhere too! ;)

Hey RT! Nice pic! Also to Frank53, that looks like it's really going to have a lot of action - two main lines? Very cool.

Kurt - can't wait to go check out that store. Hope we can get through the shopping for food stuff ASAP.... I was reading up on Ross Custom Switches online and they had a link to dealers that took me to that store. Looks like they are MSRP, but worth a look 4sure.

Thanks for the pics guys - glad Mrs. Blueberry is recovering and Chuck won't starve after all. Wish Sir James and Doug M would move over here though. Where's John (CSXT30)? Working, I'll bet.

Hi to you N and HO guys too!

LAZ, several of us are concerned about the Big Boy's whistle sound at med low speeds. Sounds like it is breaking up or sputtering. Well, I finally read the instruction booklet. Go to the back part about sound adjustment. Aux 1, aux 2, 4 only two clicks and it will cut chuffing sound and leave whistle at full sound. The chuffing was over running the whistle. Now it will sound a lot better. Also, aux 1, aux 2, 9, H [in the momentum setting area], aux 2 will push the smoke to max. I mean she will smoke.

Jim F. I would guess John S is working. Sent me some great pictures of layout expansion.

In the book, Scenery Tips and Techniques from Model Railroader Magazine, there is an article titled "Casting Rock Walls - Boheminan Style". Basically they make rock walls like a sheet cake.

Has anyone ever built anything like this?

Frank53: Looks like you're using 1/2" or 3/4" foam...Can you tell me why you're not just going with the 2"?
Thanks,
Kurt

John's posts of late on the other fourm seem different than his usual jovial self.
I'll send him an e-mail to see what's up, and let youZ GIZ know.
Kurt
Kurt......John is not the only one who " is not his usual jovial self " on the other Forum. That place has become a " not so fun " place, anymore.

Kurt, I'll give you a reason. It is much easier to cut foam that is 1" or less. Two inch foam is very hard to cut with the hot wire cutters that are on the market. Been there, done that. I wished I had used one inch foam.

CHUCK, I too agree 100% with you about the other forum. I go on but some people just turn my stomach. This is great here. I still look on there but won't post as much.

Hey, it worked. Now i have a photo.

I guess I've missed the connotations about the other forum. I certainly enjoy that thread. I'd hate to see it fade without all of you.

John, I certainly don't mean to denigrate yours or anyone else's experiences there -
