Hello!!

Time to start a new model :)
This time I will try to build the PzKpfw II Luchs from Wak.

The main frame was to be built of lasercuts....

First the drawing

Parts for the frame

When I had assembled the frame I noticed something was wrong......I had done the most stupid error you can do.I had assumed both sides of the frame was equal. They were NOT!!!! So with a massive punch from my fist the laserparts hit the dust.....
I then had to make the frame the old fashioned way.....yes thats right,by cutting new parts :)

So here is what I have done so far.....

Next will be to add some smaller pieces on the frame and make the air vents at the rear end

Sorry Johnny but I have done things wayyyyyyy stupider than that!

You are moving along really quick there!

OK Johnny, I'm digging out my copy of the Luchs as well.
I don't think I could ever catch up to you, though.
I've been really busy the past couple of months.
I still need to finish my office before I can start this project, though.

Still, making time for your hobby is one of the most important parts of life.
I need to make a sign that says that and hang it up in here on the wall, so I never forget it.
Life is just too short and goes by way too fast, to not take time out for something that gives you pleasure.:yep:

I've located the model and 1 pack of laser parts. I still need to locate the other pack of laser parts.
I remember there was another pack because it had the brass barrel in it.
By the way Johnny, how do you plan to do your barrel?
I'm not sure about mine yet but I was thinking about some stuff I've read about that blackens metal.
I don't know. I'll burn that bridge when I get to it.

Your progress is looking really good, Johnny!:thumb:
Have you found any good pictures for build reference?

Thats what I like to hear!!
Dig out the parts and get started :)

Just remember to put the correct numbers on the laserparts according to the drawing!!
The two sides are not quite similar!! It just looks that way :)

And for the barrel I will use the Humbrol gun metal paint
Don't worry about catching up....I'm a really slow builder!

Here are some nice links for reference!

Air vents

Slowly picking along....

The air vents.

The air vents are placed on the rear side of the tank and is built up by several parts.
The drawing shows what to do.

Here I have cutted out the parts for the #13

The assembly is straight forward. All parts fit fine.

I bought some mesh from RaiRo since I have not been quite happy with the Gaz bandage I have used earlier.

And with the mesh installed the top frame is lookig quite nice :)

And the air vents installed into their proper holes.

Note! nothing of the air vents is glued yet. I will wait to glue the vents in after the top skin is in place....just to be sure everything fits!!

How did you cut out all the little squares for the vent?

HAHAHA
Yeah I know its a screen ;)

Getting dressed

Putting on the skin was pretty much straight forward gluing. Some minor glitches was discovered in the kit,so a little trimming here and there was to be done.
First the hull.

Then the upper skin.

Since the side "windows" will be in open position,I had to make the inner part.

The turret

All skins in place.

And you said you were a slow builder!

Take a break Johnny and go build a small side job model!
At least give me half a chance to catch up to ya, buddy!

I better get to work then!

I finished painting and hanging new shelves and now I'm doing a little rearranging and moving things around, to use my space better.
I've been really busy but I'm almost done.
I see light at the end of the tunnel!
And there is a Luchs there!

Tonight I'm having my last shift this week,so you have almost a week to catch up!

Continued working on the turret.
Made the rear hatch with hinges, the antenna.the small hatc on top,the tower "window",two hooks at the back of the turret and some piece on front of the turret.

For paintig edges I'm using waterbased indoor paint :)
The only drawback is that I have to buy the paint in 0,5liters cans.....
