I hope I'm not jumping the gun, but here goes for a new week of great photos...

After four hours, I finally got the handrails on my GP50. Why couldn't Athearn make these metal monsters so that they would actually fit as intended. I assembled the railing as I went along and had to drill out each and every hole, a pretty good trick when you don't have a pin vise.

Canada, eh?
Here's VIA 6415 at Jordan Station, Ontario. The cars are refurbished ex-CPR stainless steel cars from the 1950's.

Jeffrey, it helps to file the end of the part that's meant to fit into the hole in the side of the walkway - the method of cutting them when they're manufactured tends to spread the end. I also like to re-work the bend to make it sharper.

NSSR "Pumpkin Train" ride

The other day my wife and son took the "Pumpkin Train"excursion held by the NSSR(North Shore&Scenic Railroad). It boarded at the Duluth Depot and went up to to the Lester River where they got off to pick pumpkins and other activities such as games and a magic show then turned around and came back. They used the Soo Line GP30 #700 for this ride.

Sorry for the photo quality, but my wife is gadget deficient to put it nicely.

In Nov. and Dec. they will be having a "Polar Express" Excursion using the last working steam engine from the Soo Line, engine #2719,a Pacific 4-6-2.I think I'm going on that one to get some decent pictures.

A: Did you move the lights from between the road numbers to the nose?

Q: Is the unit on the right doing double duty as a track cleaner or is the photo just giving me that impression? It almost looks like it has circuit boards for wheels

You got it! I salvaged the headlight fixture from an old Bachmann transet loco and very carefully drilled out a hole for it in the GP50's nose. The rest was a piece of cake.

The other unit is not a track cleaner of any kind. That's just an optical illusion. You can see it a lot better in this photo:

Wow that is some BEAUTIFUL paint, on a SWEET engine. I wish I could have seen it!

Can you help me, please

My last modeling job was help for a friend.
I know that you can make small turnbuckles. I own a flat car and a load that must be fastened on it. Can you help me, please?

This is the result, small turnbuckles, shakles and short pieces of chain.
A description "Making turnbuckles ..." will follow.
