I just discovered my layout theme!

Though I do not have a layout as of yet, I hope to get started as soon as I can, my idea is to have the whole thing as a CN heritage, using modenr CN locomotives in various CN subsidiary paint schemes (GTW,DWP,WC,IC,BC Rail,DMIR...etc...etc) also the old Gold and Green paint scheme!

I have already started on my I guess you could say drawing phase or rather colouring locomotives.

Here's one I just did just so you can get the feel of it.

The picture was provided by paintshop.railfan.net, I just added colour and logo:mrgreen:

By heritage - do you mean like this ?

It's an AC4400 in the CN heritage colours - I had it painted for me and it's one of my favourite locos in my fleet.

Yeah just like that, that looks awesome, I want to make railroads that CN bought out as well using different locomotives than the original railroads used.

Example as I posted before a GTW SD75I, right now I'm working on colouring an Illinois Central SD60F. I'm planning this all out in colouring stages, then hopefully I will buy my first loco and repaint it within a month or 2.

I was actually thinking of a Dash 9 or a GEVO for the green and gold:mrgreen:

Nice Loco ideas! :thumb: If you want some help in making these, I think MilesWestern's company can do them for you. Also, I know this isn't a paint scheme for a CN sub-road, nor is it a green and gold, but having this scheme on at least one loco might add variety to your fleet:

Canada, eh?
I have to agree with CNWman: I can't think of any modern diesel that wouldn't look good in the zebra stripes. Of all the "modern" paint schemes, it's far and away my favourite.

Out of curiosity I wonder if anyone can tell me what would be a good starting brand of HO(yes I decided on HO) locomotives fairly priced?

The Atlas Trainman series are EXCELENT starter locomotives IMO. Although I only own one of them, it is the smothest of all my engines, nice detail, and is praticaly RTR considering that they leave off some details, namely the handrails, although those come packaged with the engine.

The first time that I saw the North American scheme, I thought that the paint was peeling, allowing the primer to show through.:-D

lol that's actually what I thought too the first time I saw it, I thought the paint was peeling away.

There's 1 train that goes by my work every day, always has the same 2 engines....the lead is an SD40-2 in the NA scheme, Followed by a GP38-2 in Zebra. Wish they'd do away with the one lol.

Thanks! I just checked out the website and found out there is a dealer near me, I think I'll check it out one day if I ever have time!
