Hi Jaybats!
My uncle wanted now to start with your babylon, but he is asking now, how to build the tube? Any idea, who to form the segments of the hull? The "rings" for the hull must be folded in a special angle, or? Please inform - or anyone else... You know THIS are not my models, I only like to watch over the plans.

Sorry, I just saw this now, months later. You can roll up any kind of large cardpaper to make the inner tube. Just make the diameter fit the inner diameter of the rear half of the station, and make it as long as to the end of the section before the docking ring. Assemble the reactor section and the "boom" first (before the blue sections), then roll up a tube and insert it to fill the rear half. Then proceed to put assemble the remainder of the section around the tube. To support the larger sections around the tube, you can crumple paper or tin foil to fill in the space between the tube and the skin.

WIP: Question

This is just a WIP, keeping up my proficiency with Meta and Pep; one tends to forget all the functions that were learned by trial and error... I don't have the another wave coming in just yet!

Just wanted to ask, does anyone have any data on the dimensions for this? I'd like to try to detail this with a cockpit and all, and print it at 1/32 scale eventually. Even just the length will do. I have all the images I need but not the measurements.

Hey Jaybats...

I see you work with Meta too. Your texturing looks great! I've had hit and miss success with it.

I have to use the flat texturing vs. the UV with custom .jpgs I do in Paint. Never could figure out UV or the built in "paint" in Meta. Have you? Which do you use?

And if you do know the ins and outs, could you PM or email me with a brief tutorial? I would be forever grateful.

Thanks bunches!

I need a good meta texturing tutorial, too. Please lump me in for any course/pointers you care to offer.

Nice WC fighter btw.

Just a belated post of the last JB model I built, The Mk IX Hawk from Space: 1999. It's sitting next to my own Eagle. The scale looks pretty close, if not exactly the same. Now if I ever find my Eagle blown to bits, I'll know why.... Thanks, Jay.

Hey JAY

I know your busy... but any chance of see what other great build there be in the next wave ????

:)

Apart from the Rapier and the tutorials, let's just say I'm going into some aircraft...

Those look really nice, Scott! Maybe I should enlarge the Hawk a little bit!

sdk2knbk,
is that your Eagle design? Is it available for download? I've got the mmore complicated one (with all the rolled tubes) and it scares me! I'd love to get a model of the one you have!

thanks,
Red

Red, yes that's my own Eagle. Except for the nose cone, or "beak". I "stole" that from the other Eagle you mentioned and scaled it down to 75%. I actually came out with it a few years ago, but it's still a WIP. Keith and Marc's version came out after mine and overshadowed it, for obvious reasons. Anyway, if you want one, search the forum for "Eagle" and you'll find a couple of versions I put in another thread a while back. Yeah, theirs scares me, too, that's why mine is so much simpler, relatively speaking.

Thanks, Jay. Enlarge the Hawk? Not really necessary, it looks pretty close already. And besides, as far as I know, only one other person has actually built my Eagle anyway.

dear jay, as for your nice cylon raider, i need some step by step graphic or picture instructions. i dont want to mess up my expensively printed laser copy of your raider by just ripping wnd gluing with abandon.

also, any knowledge of a cylon eye small enough for your raider?

i am thinking of purchasing celphone LED's, but i dont know how to build a ciruitry for the swinging eye movement.

Hi guys!

just wondering, I'm having trouble downloading the Republic Gunship on the first Dealer's Choise page...it seems that all the models on that section can't be downloaded.

Is anybody else having the same problem? I really need that Republic Gunship...wwaaaahhhh!

I already contacted jay but it seems that he's busy with work and hasn't logged on since Jan 07...sigh!
