Thanks Kurt.
The windows print up like they are. The instructions say to print the windows on transparency film but that was expensive, so I printed them on plain 20lb paper.

I like it. Looks like a really good job to me.

If anyone would ever point out a mistake to you just tell them the owner's of the warehouse were cheapskates and wouldn't pay for union construction workers. ;) LOL

Seriously, looks awesome.

That looks pretty darn good.:thumb:
I've looked at a couple of their structures. Working on and off for a month doesn't seem too bad for a structure that large.

Wow, great work Loren!

I need a big ol' long structure to go behind one of my interchange yards. I was going to use DPM modulars, but that may be just the ticket. Yours looks really good.

Thanks Gary. You can make the building any size you want since its a modular design to.
This building will go on the edge of my yard where I have a long switching lead. That will give me a couple more car spots.

Very nice Loren! :thumb: Since this is a background building, I like your choice of printing the windows on regular paper, not transparencies. This way, you don't have to detail the interior of this huge building and you also won't be able to see through the building to the backdrop behind it.

Thanks Josh. There are lots of built up layers of cardstock to give the building "depth". I used mainly cereal boxes and the instructions call for some of the cardstock to be 2mm thick !
Thank you Scott, I was being cheap when I printed the windows, but that's a good point. Didn't even think of that.

That turned out really good! How hard would you rate the building of it? I have thought about using those, but have been a little scared due to my lack of ability to build things and be happy with them when I am finished.

You can download a free model from http://www.scalescenes.com and give it a try. That will give you an idea of what is involved in building these paper models and how good you at at doing so. In the spring, several of us built the free freight house/shed. Check out the thread: http://forum.zealot.com/t116356/. In there, you'll find some hints that might be helpful, regardless of whether you're building the freight house or a larger structure like grewsome did.

Bottom line: If I can be out of the hobby for 15 years and then come back and build an acceptable freight house out of paper, there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to do it too! Just give it a try! :thumb:

Jesso, thanks for the compliment !
As far as difficulty goes, the building is harder to make then plastic because you have to build so many layers to get away from that flat card stock look. But, the great thing about this is if you do make a mistake, you just print up another sheet and re-do it. And, you can build as many as you want for the same price. And any size. Try that with plastic !
All in all, I am very pleased with this, and am already looking for other buildings. Give that little freighthouse a try as Scottcn suggested. I think the results are worth the little extra effort.

I checked out the thread where Ocalicreek built the freight house. Very informative and instructive. I'm going to give scalescenes a shot at some point here in the future.

Loren, how about some progress photos of the layout?

Hey Gary. By all means give it a try. I think you will enjoy building it.
As far as progress photos go, that building is about all I have done this summer.
