Afternoon. Could not get the forum to open earlier. Where is everyone???? Weekends must be absentee time. No rain from tropical storm. Raining on the coast and none in central NC. Well, think I will visit the pond and have a inspiration time. Good place to go and visit with the good Lord. Then some train time. Hope all have a great week coming up. Later

It only took 5 hours to clean it :eek: Now .... I "think" I can find everything :D :D

This weekend we had the 50th anniversary reunion of the opening of my high school (Thistletown Collegiate). I met only 3 people from my year that I recognized (and that recognized me) but there were 4 teachers there that I had, who'd all been there from the beginning (I started there in its 3rd year). They mostly looked pretty good -- infact, younger than some of their students.
Didn't go to the dinner/dance.

Good morning folks

It felt like someone threw a hot wet blanket over me when I walked out the door this morning. The humidity is brutal today. The temperature was only 76 F but it felt ugly. We are supposed to reach 86 F today with thunderstorms.

We had a busy and productive weekend. We did that grocery shopping thing. The kids even managed to get their Halloween costumes. Now they will spend the next month adding extras to them. Did some trimming of the rhododendrons in the front yard and repaired the fence around the fish pond area. My son’s football team, the Drexel Hill Raiders Midget JV Silver unfortunately lost to the Clifton Heights Rams 12 to 7. They have a quite a bit to work on this week mainly listening and paying attention. Several players were not paying attention and caused his team several delay of the game and too many men on the field penalties and a few times they only had nine or ten players on the field.

On the modeling front I added more foliage to the ridge behind the Farm House Area. Also I began working on a diorama for my wife that she needs for work. It will show a riparian forest area.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning Tom. Will try to send some nicer weather your way in a few days. We just went through that overly muggy bit here (IL) so I know exactly what you are talking about. Can't wait until tomorrow. Highs in the mid 70's and low humidity and we are due for 3-4 days of it before it warms up a bit and rain moves in.

Morning. Storm hit some of the coast but turned tail and wetn back out. NO rain for NC [except for the upper coast]. Going to work at the pond today. Been hauling big chunks of rock [blasted out when sewer line was run] from above down to pond. Filling in a big hole that had washed out at dam where muskrats [now gone] started. Pill them on tailgate to truck, haul them down, unload them on the bank, climb down [pond is 4 feet low] and throw them into the hole [water still in there and soft mud]. Will take several more loads to fill it and make it stronger. One good thing about the pond going down, can do things around it that are usually under water. With this pond, still plenty of water as it is usually 20 feet deep and 12 to 16 over most of it. Some ponds around here are almost dried up as most run about 6 to 10 feet deep. Got layout with Soundstop down. Now for scenery.

F3's. Got the cars too but no where to park them. Going to build storage under the right sid of backroom layout. Got the lumber and plywood. Going to build like shelves and on slight angle. Put down old tublar track. Then push cars up the track. When I remove one or more, the rest will slide down. Got big sliding tubs full of cars. Got more diesels too [in CN]. Thanks for the compliment. I used Celetex Soundstop and it is 1/3 the cost of Homasote. 1/2 inch thick in 4X8 sheets. Several guys have tried it and like it like I do. Seals with laytex paint [why the brown]. Later

Good morning folks

It is down right ugly this morning. When I stepped out the door not only was the wet heavy blanket thrown over me the humidity punched me in the gut taking away my breath. The thermometer in the van read 73F but the humidity has to be through the roof. The high today is supposed to be 82F with thunderstorms. We can defiantly use the rain as everything is dry and wilting, and the ground is as hard as concrete.

I added some more foliage to the ridge behind the Farm House Area. I think one more night at it and I will be ready to start placing the buildings. Tonight won’t be the night since we have Back to School Night for my son. I love the notice we got from the school; they gave the kids the paper announcing it yesterday.

I hope everybody has a good day.

I'm off on a trip. After one of the driest summers on record, we had rain last night, intermittent all day today, and right now it's pounding on the roof of our RV. For the first time I've had to turn on the furnace!
We drove along most of the length of the Huron Central. Saw a couple of cuts of cars in McKerrow but no motive power. There were a couple of ballast maintenance vehicles at one place.

Good morning folks

The humidity is mostly gone this morning. It was more pleasant walking out the door this morning than it has been the last couple of mornings. It was 67 F as I hit the road this morning. The high today is supposed to reach 78 F.

No modeling last night. My son had football practice and we had Back to School Night afterwards for him. Does not look good for tonight as we have our first Cub scout meeting tonight.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning folks

There is definite change in the weather. It much cooler and less humid. You might even say it comfortable. The temperature was 63 F as I hit the road this morning. Our high today will be 79 F.

No modeling last night. We had our Cub Scout Open House last night. It was a great success. It was meant to be a welcome back night for our returning scouts and sign up some new ones. We had 18 of our 26 returning scouts show-up and we signed up 4 new scouts. Our big recruitment night is in two weeks.

I hope everybody has a good day.
