TrainNut, hey, i would NOT put glue/water over a pile of dirt, your right, it would change it. i would use plaster, or wad up some tape, then paint it with straight white glue, then sprinkle the dirt on it, when dry vacuum off the loose dirt, i have done this before and had GREAT luck with the outcome:winki: . for the trench, i took a drill and "dug" a trench with it, then AGAIN brushed straight white glue on the areas that i wanted dirt, sprinkle dirt over it, vacuum up when dry:thumb: .
Just throwing out some things that has worked for me:winki::smilie: .

Dave, THANK YOU for the complement on the patched SP:smilie: . for some reason most folks like that engine:smilie: .

Kevin, NICE little steamer!!!:thumb::thumb::mrgreen: .

That is an excellent idea. I'll have to experiment with that. I sure do love that cab forward of yours. Does it have sound. That's probably a stupid question knowing you... of course it has sound.:mrgreen:

You know, I might just have to pull my mudhen out of the box and have a little photo shoot.

HOW ABOUT SOME PROTOTYPE STUFF.

Okay, these are repeats from a while ago but still appropriate for this thread I think.

BNSF hauling butt downgrade from Flagstaff through Williams, AZ.

Josh:wav: , this ones for you!:winki::mrgreen: ....I know, i wont post any more pics of #8620, for fear you folks will start throwing stones at me for posting to many pics of the same engine:eeki::119: .

TrainNut, THANK YOU!:smilie: You bet the AC12 has sound:winki::mrgreen: , i put an MRC Brilliance sound decoder in it. for diesels, i LOVE the Brilliance line of sound decoders(on EMD's), and the one i put in the AC12 sounds good:thumb: , but honestly, i WONT be using the Brilliance sound if i get another steamer:cry: . the problem was it took me just over an hour to get the chuff rate right, and adjust the speed curve:frowns: , i got it to work good in the end, but felt it took way to much work to get it there:frowns: . NEXT TIME i think i will try the Tsunami out:winki::rolleyes: .
The pic of the Alco you posted is my FAVORITE!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Great pics everyone..Keep em comin..
Josh: The Hopper Toppers are made, well, were made, by McKean. They show up on Ebay from time to time..If you can't get the Yellow Chessie Hopper Toppers, get the White Conrail Hopper Toppers and paint them...I used N scale Decals on the ends of them...As far as I know there never was any numbers on them.. Good Luck..

I love that sign!
There were a bunch of these up and down the fence all the rest said, "Parents, please don't let your children play on the tracks." This was the only one worded this way. On the far side of the fence is the mainline and as you can tell by the blurriness of the train, it's bookin' right along. On the near side of the fence, is the Grand Canyon Railroad line (which you can't see in the picture).

Sorry guys, but this thread has grown too big for me to comment on all the pictures, I have to pic out just a few … Charlie, please keep posting prototype pics, even if you’re the only one. :thumb: Mark, I love your railfans. :wave: Trainnut, your picture of the construction site is one of my favorites :thumb:. Deano, I never get tired of seeing your patched engines :nope:. Jeffrey, the detailing of your scenes is awesome. I especially like the picture of the loading ramp.

Yeah, I really enjoy your prototype pictures too, Charlie, even though they're not of my modelling era. They certainly do illustrate how much variety in motive power and rolling stock roadnames has been lost in the intervening years, not to mention the railroad infrastructure and surrounding structures.
