This Bridge and Roadbed?

if bridge is going to be ballasted use the road bed, I would assume you are baallasting the brige as there is noframewrk under track area

Yep, I'm gonna ballast right over the bridge. Here's a pic of the bridge in place, all sculptamolded and plastered in. I think it is looking pretty good. And even better when I get some grass and brush and such on.
Down here in Houston, alot of the bridges have water under them most of the time, even though the bayou itself isn't flowing. I'll probably model it that way, put a thin layer of mod podge or other fake water right on the plaster in the bottom.

Ralph, I was over at the LHS the other day and happened upon the bridge. It is made by Pre-Size Model Specialties. The packaging looks pretty old. The bridge was $8.95 if I remember correctly. I originally was going to just put culverts under the tracks for the bayou, but when I saw the bridge, I figured it would look nice.
The track and roadbed were already in place on the layout, but it was pretty easy to cut the foam out from under the roadbed and put the bridge in, then sculptamold the terrain back around the bridge.

I have the same question as Ralph, who makes it? I have some culverts that look like the same style as the bridge but they came in a ziplock bag with no MFR name on it

that is one realistic bridge right there, my friend. What is that carved into the side of it, though?
I agree with you on that one Gary. I have some culverts that I think are made by the same company, they also have dates on them and when I get ready to install them somewhere on the layout, ill for sure be doing the same thing as you will be :thumb: :thumb:
would expect a older date for it, but you must admit that's it's a rarely modeled detail that would add intrest to an otherwise bland bridge.
Is it just the lighting, or is your brown earth tone REALLY gray?

Thanks Jim, I am finding that using 2" thick foam as the layout base is a wonderful thing.
Miles, the paint on the foam is gray. I'm trying to model the color of the earth around here, which is mostly gumbo clay. Now, I had originally started out with tan, but it looked like desert. Then I had Home Depot mix me up some brown, but it was too dark and, well, too brown. Then I got the gray that you see, and it was too gray. My latest is, I mixed the brown with the gray and that's what I have now.
I am posting pics in a new thread, so see what you think of the color. I'm still not completely happy, but most, if not all of it will be covered with grass bushes road gravel trees ballast.

Gary, have you thought to take in a sample of your local "dirt" and see if Home Depot or some paint store can match it?
Was thinking if you take an index card, coat it with some clear drying glue and them really coat it with dirt it should give you a decent enough sample. Don't know for certain if it would work or not, but it might be worth a try.
