Just saying Hello

Hi everyone. Just signed on today and wanted to introduce myself. I am a full time stay at home Dad (best job in the world :thumb: ). I have two sons, one 17 and the other who is about to turn 2. The older boy lives abut 800 miles away with his Mother. The youngin is from my current marriage who keeps me fairly busy during the day.

I am getting ready to build, or should I say rebuild my layout. My older boy got really mad at me and ended up trashing as complete as if a tornado had hit it. :curse: This was about 7 years ago and I never had the time, or the inclination while he was living with me, to rebuild it. All that is left is the table which is a very sturdy 4X8 set up.

Now as a SAHD I have the time and I am needing something to do besides chasing the kiddo around all day.

My previous set was done in HO but I am considering diving into N scale this time as the 4X8 is really about all the room I have and I figure I can eventually put together a really nice set in that space, though for me it is more about the journey rather than the destination.

Well enough boring you all to sleep. Like I said I mainly just wanted to say howdy, and since I am getting into something a bit new for me I will most likely be picking the brains of those who have already been there and done that..

Welcome to The Gauge, even if you are forsaking HO and going to that little stuff. Seriously, N is a great decision if you are space challanged. Keep us posted on your progress.

If my uncle, who has been a big model RR buff since before I was born, had his way about it I would be going O all the way.

One day I may end up setting up an O layout if I ever get the room because I already know that I am inheriting all of his trains upon his death. He has no one else to give them too as everyone else in the family has no interest at all in this hobby.
