Hello, need some suggestions please!

:confused:Hello everyone, i need some suggestions as to how i can tie my layout together. What has happened is that i removed the curved backdrop from my layout. This has exposed my yard as well as freed up some more realestate for me to do something with. As you can see from the pictures, my bridge scene looks a little weird now that the backdrop isnt there any more, so i need some suggestions as how i can tie these scenes together. Also, im thinking about converting the bridge to double tracks instead of one single track. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!:eek:

Steve, for the bridge scene, how about a retaining wall where the pink foam is above the water,with drainage pipes and water coming out of the pipes.

Remember...it's for fun!
Steve, if this helps I used corrugated cardboard to represent the corrugated steel walls I see along some parts of Lake Superior.

How about building a second bridge along the original one to suggest just what happened...there was a need to have another track cross the water, the current bridge couldn't be modified so another was constructed. It could be the same or a different style.

Just some thoughts,
Ralph

with a little modification and some elbo grease,you could make your river go under your yard either by arch bridge,multiple drain pipes or a wide but short girder bridge.--josh

i could also see a medium sized hill with rock outcroppings behind your mine and in front of your yard or hell,maybe just some ssmall structures and some nice rolling hills.maybe some engine servicing on the left of your bridge.and may i suggest more industries,I.E: icing,RIP,grain,...there are so many possibilities!--josh

Steve;
I don't think you want a river under your yard. I've never seen even a stream under a yard. The idea about a retaining wall sounds good to me.
It's your railroad, so you have the controls. sign1

Hmm, I like the idea of a retaining wall there, especialy like Ralph's wall. I know of some device that lets you coragate ANYTHING like paper and cardboard, and it's the size of one of those winshield wipers at the gas station. As for the seccond bridge, Ralph's idea for a different bridge is also a good one in my book. If pulled off correct, it my could show the age of your layout if the new bridge looks more pristene than the current one.

i saw one on a rather rural yard on C&O lines.i beleive it was in the coal river sub and looked very cool.but in russel,ky yard theres an underground runaround from engine servicing to the other side.so crossings of a yard are viable,either by water or double track :mrgreen:--josh
