We had our train club meeting this week and he gave me permission to post some pictures of his in progress layout. I think it is incredible how much detail he puts into it. It is proto48. The last picture is the area he is working on currently.

CNWman-that switcher is startin to look pretty cool :thumb:.and the rust on that roof is pretty cool also.and heres a tip,if you want to start making VERY realistic rust.buy some winsor and newton water soluable oil colors and do your regular orang erust streaking then over that place darker and darker colors of rust, stippling it as much as you want.when its drie it looks like crusty running rust! ill try to post pics of a triple bay hopper im workin on now later.

Smoke-WOW,amazing weathering job on that SD45! im blown away! if that was on a layout ida thought i was lookin at a proto pic! keep it up man!

jeffrey-that is a vey good lookin engine, what kind is it,im havin a hard time determining what it is.im not to good on loco identification.

jesso-that is a very cool layout! if i had the room id love to model proto48.but lack of space and equipment keeps me to HO.but that is seriously a beautiful layout!

Thanks for the tip!:thumb: The roof is finished, however. It's taken the entire Summer to do, most of it experementing with chalk pastels (not a pretty story, but did leave some nice effects after removal, but not worth the two weeks poured into it.

Smoke- can words even describe how incredible that weathering job looks:confused::mrgreen:

jesso- Wow, proto48, that has got to be painstaking considering how close to realism it must be. Awesome!:thumb:

Keep 'em comin guys, lets get the ball REALLY rollin this week cuz:

I like the roof of the grain elevator CNWman
Nice weathering ( and heavy too ) Smoke, it looks like your SD45 is on it's way to ... the scrapyard.
jesso, you are lucky to have a club where you can take nice pics and receive tips from very good modelers.

Here is my contribution, I just finished the N scale paper depot from scalescenes.com.
It's free, takes as much time to build as an equivalent plastic kit would and kept me busy for a few evenings.
I think it'll look good ( as a background structure ) on my switching layout.

Nice discussion shot chessie4155, sometime we modelers forget that our layouts are in reality run by Preiser figures.
I like the brick structure on the left ( with roof details ) is it a DPM kit ? what's the exact name of it ( or part # )?

Biased Turkey: That building in the background is the Life Like Hotel.
Belvadear(sp) Hotel, I think its called. Its suppose to be a three story structure but we used two levels on this one , We have another that was built with all three levels.

Great Pics Everyone:thumb:.. announce1Keep Em Comin Folks.

Here's a grab shot of the caboose on a Westbound..
