We had a cabin up in Highland Pine for about ten years.
That's up in behind funny rock isn't it?
Note of clarification: I hope I didn't confuse the matter but the section I am referring to as 89A is actually 89 (Wickenburg to Prescott to Ashfork). 89A runs from Prescott over Mingus to Jerome, across the Verde Valley to Sedona, and then up to Flagstaff... another fun road.

Don't know, never heard the term "funny rock". Just go out about five miles on Iron Springs Rd., then hang a left. highland Pine is about two miles off the highway.

Don't worry, I always get 89 and 89A mixed up too. I've taken both, and 89A is a bit scary too, especially heading into Jerome. We were going to come down from Flagstaff to Sedona using 89A on the way back from Durango this week.

Those roads are fun to travel.
My wife doesn't like traveling roads through the mountains, should have seen her gripping the dash when I took her up to Crown King.
You actually went to Crown King?:eek:Wow, I saw a piece on TV the other day about going out to Bumble Bee using Crown King Rd. off of I-17. They had to park their RV and use smaller vehicles since the road is so rough.

The road is like a washboard the whole way.
Most of it is the old right of way of the old Bradshaw Mountain Railroad.
This photo shows some of the switchbacks.

Instead of turning off of Iron Springs Rd., you continue another 1/4 mile, on the left hand side (south side) of the road, you will see funny rock. You passed him twice on your way to and from this last Prescott swap meet! He's been there as long as I can remember and probably a bit before!

Geeze, if they'd make him a bit more obvious, I might not have missed him. :p :p I might have mistook him for a hitch hiker though.:cry:

I'll be sure to look next time.
