With the new camera(Yep...Still playing with it)

Fullards Oil is shut down for the night. But it looks like a couple of trucks are ready for tomorrows runs.

Keep It Moving!
Dear Chris
Nice job on the Erie commuter locomotives. Here are some pictures taken in 1978 at Dover NJ. I thought you might enjoy seeing them.
Charlie

Definitely! I love these pictures, the U34CHs are some of my favorites.

Those are technically Conrail units right? I really need to hunt down more U-boats to make into the EL units. I've seen pictures of a trio of blue these pulling freight on weekends. I might even try that bicentennial scheme. I think that same U-boat got repainted back in blue later on though, except they messed up the stripes!

I wish Comet 1 cars were available for these. the walthers are Comet II, and the doors and cab car windows are wrong. I might buy the DOT ones someday anyway, just to have a matching set of cars. gotta still fixt the pilot on this model.

thanks for sharing!:mrgreen::thumb:

Nice "night-time" photography! that looks really difficult to get right! lighting is so hard to do just right.

Jbaako

Nice AC4400CW! it looks like you got some SD75Ms back there getting ready to be assembled! I have an orange one, those are nice locomotives.

CN Nutbar

Wow, that steam engine looks brilliant! How do you do all that piping!

Smoke

Cool repaints! The BN one is cool, but i REALLY like those southern units!

CNW1961

The weathering on that unit is great! the way the grim splotches and those patches of dirt or rust are really nice. how did you do it?

My Trip to Chicago:mrgreen:....(OR, My Darn Camera BROKE!):eeki::frowns:

Well, Ma, Dad, my son and I decided to take the train(Metra) from Harvard to Chicago yesterday, to go to the Museum of Science and Industry:thumb: . the Metra was about 8 cars long, and it uses a cab coach on the point to get to Chicago, and an FP40?:eek:ops: is on the point going back to Harvard.
DSC00789.jpg

We sat in the First car(the cab coach) on the way there. i have to say, the ride was VERY SMOOTH:thumb:, UP owns the Metra, and the tracks it travels on, a big pat on the back to UP's track crew!:thumb:

Here's a couple shots i took while going into Chicago, the color looks a little funny because the train windows had tint in them.
DSC00810.jpg

DSC00813.jpg

Here we are going into the Ogolvie Station in Chicago, i believe this was the CNW station:confused: , Union Station was across the street.
DSC00816.jpg

We walked a BUNCH of downtown Chicago, but not by choice:eeki: , we couldn't figure out the bus or trolley systems:eek:ops: , once we figured them out, off to the museum we went:thumb: .

Sadly, by the time we got there, there wasn't much time to see a whole lot of the museum:frowns: . Ma and my son went to the Mummy IMAX theater there, and Dad and I headed to see the Pioneer Zephyr:thumb: (i have the HO model of this:mrgreen: ), we decided to all meet back at the "Great Train Story", thats the HUGE model RR they have there:winki::mrgreen: .

So dad and i headed to the Pioneer Zephyr, it was dark, so i couldn't really get good shots:frowns: .
DSC00825.jpg

The ONLY WAY you could get into the Zephyr was by taking one of there tours:roller: , so dad and i took the tour:mrgreen: , OH MAN, was it cheesy:roller: , NOT GREAT by any means:frowns: , but it was cool to see the inside of it:thumb: . i decided to take some shots of the inside...CRIPES!.. ...MY CAMERA STOPPED WORKING!:eeki::madd::madd::madd: OH MAN, i tried everything, even bought NEW batteries there, the darn camera just slap was dead:frowns: . well, now i was TOTALLY TICKED OFF!:madd:

ANYWAYS, we headed over to the HUGE Model RR there, it was nice:thumb: , wasn't the best modeling i have seen:roller:, but it was neat:thumb: .(they should have hired Wayne, Kurt, etc.:worship: , would have been more impressive:winki::mrgreen: ). WE all met up at the Huge layout, got something to eat there, and didn't have much time to see a whole lot of anything else. we hopped on the bus, and headed back to the station, the rest is history:winki: .

when we got back home, my son and i headed out to get a replacement camera:thumb: . i had a Sony 6.0 mega pixel, really, it served me well:winki: , i have taken it on MANY rail fanning trips, and have taken COUNTLESS pics here at home, and at dads. i decided to get another Sony, this time i got a 7.2 mega pixel:thumb: , DON'T ASK how i like it, i have only took the memory card out of my dead camera and put it in the new one to retrieve the few pics of the trip that i was able to get before the 6.0 died:frowns: . :deano: -Deano

cr u34ch

Dear Chriss
here is some info about the U34CH
GE U34CH Prototype: Conrail Cyclopedia

CR did get a couple of engines that had been used on the auto train and had some u33c's that were similar I think.
If you want to do some in Conrail I think it would be great as they did technically come under Conrail control and at the time I took these photos The trainmaster there was a Conrail trainmaster. The Bicentennial unit was burried so he pulled it out to where we could take a picture. He turned out to be a great friend, who died too young.

Flyboy, great pictures keep em comming

Chessie4155 that is some very fine modeling indeed

Deano great pictures. They didn't show up for me earlier, Sounds like you had a great time. Public transportation is the only way to travel in Chicago. We were in Arlington Heights last September for the Northern Illinois Samoyed Association picnic. We drove back into town for a dinner at a friends home, and again in the morning to go to the Michigan Ave. Beach. It was fun except for the driving and the traffic. I'll detour around town from now on. I'm just too used to being the biggest and only vehicle on the road.sign1

I was planning on putting up some pics taken with my NEW camera:mrgreen: , but there are so many options i haven't figured out how to get GREAT shots yet:eek:ops: , and i just have run out of good spots to take pics from:eek:ops: , i guess its time to start working on the layout again so i can have some NEW scenes to shoot:winki: .

Great job Deano. Does it have loksound? (probably a really dumb question)sign1
Charlie
THANK YOU CHARLIE! , and NO, you DID NOT have a dumb question:winki: . i put an MRC Brilliance "switcher" sound decoder in it:winki: , so it doesn't sound like an FM, it sounds like an EMD:eek:ops: , but i got a few of those sound decoders on sale, so thats what i had on hand:119: .

G_E_C, most of the weathering was done with an airbrush. First I sprayed a thin layer of heavily diluted white paint to fade the color of the engine (mostly on the sides of the hood). Then I applied some very thin coats of dark brown and grimy black to the top and the top of the sides of the hood. Next I sprayed a light brown paint for the dirt on the lower parts of the engine. After the paint was dry, I wiped some of the paint off from the sides of the hood using a bit of alcohol. For the rusty patches (the color of the rust does not show perfectly in the pics) I applied some clear matt paint with a small paint brush and then sprinkled colored chalk on to it.

Deano, sorry to hear about your camera, but hey, your FM 10-44 is awesome :thumb::thumb:. Did you install the MRC Brilliance decoder #1643 into this engine? Could you please tell me the size of the speaker that comes with the decoder .

Wayne:wav: , THANK YOU!, very much for the complement:smilie: . as far as pulling power, i am guessing your right:winki: , but on my layout, i can only pull 3 cars max with it...due to space:eek:ops: .
