Charging at full tilt.
Well, winter down here is nice during the day, been hitting 20*C and nights not too bad either hitting the 5* mark.

No time unfortunatly for either of my layouts. This Friday night our informal group will be going in a convoy to visit someones Marklin Layout, ah- something new for a change.

Good morning folks

We are having some hot weather but at least the humidity has gone down some. It is still not totally comfortable but at least it is tolerable. High is supposed to reach 93 F. It is currently 74 F and it feels like the A/C here in the office is having some issues this morning.

Work has been driving me crazy these past few days. I guess everyone knows I am going on vacation next week. Also I am doing my job and my counterpart’s job. He retired back in June and they have been very slow to post the opening. As a matter of fact it looks like I will be doing double duty at least for the next couple of months. My wife says it is the price I have to pay for being one of few old-timers who know what they are doing. In another words: No good deed goes unpunished. I am not sure which part disturbs me the most; the fact I know what I am doing or the fact that I am now considered an old-timer.

My son’s football practice went well last night. Tonight they get their equipment and tomorrow they start hitting. We will see how many quit then. In the past it has been usually around 10 to 20%.

No modeling last night. I have been working on trying to arrange our last Cub Scout outing of the summer. I thought I would spend an hour on it last night but it turned into an all night thing.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Funny - - we're getting the same thing here -- Same weather - - same job problems -- GEEZE - you might think we lived 5 - 6 miles apart :p:p:p

We have the same thing going on here - All the young bucks want to start at a higher salary.. so we lose a bunch after the interview... A lot still can't pass a drug test :cry: and the rest - stay a while and leave for more money...

Those of us "old-timers" can't afford to leave if we wanted to... :(
but it's the same thing here - they are really slow to hire a new person - -Must be the medical plan they have to pay for........

Been relatively cool here the past week or so. We actually had a couple of days where it didn't reach 100 degrees. Why? Well, it's rained somewhere in our valley every day now for over a week, and where it rains, it pours. It's just very spotty. Monday night there was flooding on the other side of town and more flooding just about five miles south of us, and we saw barely a drop. When it's this way, its hard to say which is easier to deal with, high temps and low humidity, or the other way around. But of course, we need the rain regardless.

As far as modeling goes, does demo work qualify? If so, I've been modeling some these past few days.  Actually, I've been tearing apart some track and ballast on my newer section... once again. This will be the third go-around or is this the fourth? I can't remember,:p :p but I'm almost ready to tear it all out and start over again if I can't clean up the mess I'm making right now.wall1

Evening all. Picked up Ranger Bass Boat from dealer. Had carbs rebuilt [Faststrike with plastic bowls, why do you put plastic on a hot motor???]. Took it to Kerr Lake for a good long run. Runs great. No layout work today. Off to Mom's down east tomorrow. Hope to be home before late and then do some work on layout. Continue to work on Friday. Got to get soundboard out of the shelter so I can back boat in. Getting hotter and dryer. No rain in sight.
Good night all.

HI everyone. Just thought I'd let you know we are doing good and were no where near the bridge in the Twin Cities. Been very busy with family (Downs grandson had to have more surgery and is doing great) and fishing. We are now even busyer with livestock on the farm for our own meat and should start butchering pigs in the next few weeks....the beef will not be ready for the table until next spring....

Nose itch, ears burn????? We've been asking about you. No one knew if you had left us and did not like us anymore. :p Glad to hear farm is doing OK. We are drying up. Can't get a big rain. Pond down two feet. Hope Grandson gets better. Off to see my Mom down east. All have a great day [including the guy who is upside down in Sydney ].

Good morning folks

It looks like we are in another heat wave. High yesterday was 93 F, today it is supposed to 95 F, tomorrow 93 F. Basically it will be in the nineties through the weekend. Right now it is 78 F. The humidity is tolerable at the moment. We’ll have to see if it stays that way.

My son got his equipment for football last night. Tonight will be the first night of hitting.

Hold the press! I actually got some modeling done! I got back to weathering the trucks on seven tank cars. I added WS fine turf –earth to the farm house area to begin making the driveways.

Vacation in 5 days. High today in Curacao will be 92 F, partly cloudy.

Those of us "old-timers" can't afford to leave if we wanted to... :(

Same thing here. I have several higher ups turn around to me recently and say “you better not leave!” I realized the other day how true that was when I had to stick my nose into problem and solve it. If I didn’t nothing would have gotten done. The scary thing is being labeled an old-timer at 44. Of course I have 23 years with the DOT and am the second most senior person in my unit.

but it's the same thing here - they are really slow to hire a new person - -.

Trying dealing with State Civil Service Commission and their rules.

I hope everybody has a good day.

I am expecting the Fed X man today with a set of cables for a marine radio. It converts the rubber duck antena to a ground plane on the tower my that my scanner uses.

An other hot dry one ahead.

I am going to drive over to my dad's house today for a visit then to Wal Mart for some pool chemicals.

I need to clean up the front room where I have been working on my train table, it's a mess.

It says that you don't have an avatar, you'll have to upload yours again :( :(

Betcha it's that link problem - it affected the avatars too :( :(
Yeah, because those that never had an avatar, there's nothing there. Those that had them and they got lost, well, they have that under their names.

I guess we have to ask the Chief if he uploaded his avatar, or was it linked... How about it Chief?

Good morning folks

It is definitely hot and humid here in the Delaware Valley. High today is supposed to be 93 F. It is 82 F now. We have a slight chance of thunderstorms tonight. Last it was 88 F at 9:30 PM. My son survived his first football practice of the season with full pads. He does it again tonight.

No modeling last night.

This weekend will be busy getting last minute things done before vacation. There is packing to do and we have to go shopping for a few last minute items. Also our TV in the kitchen more or less died so we will be shopping for a new one.

Modeling I would like to do this weekend is finish weathering the trucks on the tank cars and begin the foliage on the hill behind on the farm house.

Things have nuts around the office since the Minneapolis bridge collapse. The local press has been keeping our Press Office busy and the news trucks are lined up in the parking lot. There is a pretty good article highlighting my boss’s boss at: One engineer's top worrisome site | Inquirer | 08/03/2007

I hope everybody has a good day.
