Deano's Modeling tip;
Hey folks:wav: , Deano's modeling tip for the day:winki: , want to see just what to add to the layout to make it look better...take some pics of your layout:winki: . just when i think areas are looking OK, i take some shots, and while viewing them, i find lots wrong:eeki::eek:ops: ....take this pic for example, after i uploaded it, i now see weeds and brush are BADLY needed:eek:ops: ....the "to do" list just keeps getting longer..:eek:ops: ...:119: .
Take it from 'OL Deano, contributing to this thread will help improve your layout:winki: .

Good point, Dean. It's funny how much easier it is to see things that need improvement in a photo than it is in person. You never notice that derailed car until you post the picture, or that coffee cup sitting on your layout, in the background. My "discoveries", among others, are:

"Flying" vehicles -

2007-01-10_562.jpg

Fuzzy baggage cars -
2007-01-10_422.jpg

"Sceniced" headlights -
2007-01-10_406.jpg

Shiny LPBs (which are definitely not shiny in person) -
2007-01-10_590.jpg

2007-01-10_591.jpg

2007-01-10_5821.jpg

And my personal favourite, cobwebs -

on freight cars and buildings...

on locomotives...

2007-01-10_283.jpg

and on structures...

Also, to all who have posted here, great photos!!:thumb::thumb: Please keep 'em comin'!!

Josh asks:what kind are those,im not to up to date on todays power .

Josh,The 7839 is a CW40-8 and the 682 is a CW60AC both are GE units. These units belong to one of the club members.
=========================================
Deano,My C&HV units are custom painted by a good internet friend..In fact he help suggest the color scheme.:thumb:
Also the engine facility is on the Bucyrus club layout.
Thanks for the nice comment..I will pass it on to the guys that did the work.

March, 1979 in Virginia. A really great looking and fast running locomotive. The word "Royal" is indeed earned.

I believe that engine was a 4-8-2 moutain or something like that (I own the toy of it in brio form, had it ever since my 6th christmas:mrgreen:) I think right now the engine is laden with all these fancy crests and such and looks like a train wreck even if it's stationary!

Hummm, all of the attached picture's are not showing up for me. :(
I'm having that problem too. Many photos in this thread (only those that are "Attached Thumbnails", and not all of those) are invisible - not even a red X. They were showing up fine yesterday.

Hmmmmmm, I am having the same problem today: most of the attached thumbnails don’t show up, only slekjr’s pics in posts # 24 and # 47 are visible. Yesterday was fine.

I cleared the cache and tried again, but it’s still the same :confused::confused:.
I tired it on another computer and it was still the same, thus why I posted.

Deano, question for ya, when are you gonna do a patch on an SD60(M) to make it right, for the 2200-2520 series!? :p

Same problem here some of the posts don't show the attachments.
Now lets try to post some more photos.
Does anyone have a NMRA clearance gauge they can loan?

Hmmm! I'm seeing all of the photos: attachments, links, whatever, including the shots of CPR Royal Hudson 2839.

Wayne
Wayne, THANK YOU!! , YOU have answered my question, it was the "Royal Hudson":thumb: . i have herd of that engine, and seen pics of it before:winki: , just couldn't remember the name of it:eek:ops: .

Hmmmmmm, I am having the same problem today: most of the attached thumbnails don’t show up, only slekjr’s pics in posts # 24 and # 47 are visible. Yesterday was fine.
Kurt, i am puzzled that a few of you cant see some of the pics:confused: , i am a dial-upper, and i can see ALL of the pics:thumb: .

Deano, question for ya, when are you gonna do a patch on an SD60(M) to make it right, for the 2200-2520 series!? :p
Josh, if i was modeling the UP of TODAY, i would patch the SD60M:thumb: , but my vast assortment of engines runs from the steam days-today, so my pics depict MANY different time frames:winki: , that being said, i am just going to leave the number on the SD60M "as is", for now anyways:winki: .
Remember, the Rock Valley Subs slogan is: "Bringing the Past and Present Together"

Charlie, NICE PICS!!!:thumb: I really liked the pic of the Autoracks:winki::mrgreen: .
