And the house was mine!
Wet roads, inexperienced sixteen year old driver, and speed, led to a car hitting my house.

He hit so hard(What a noise it made), that he cracked the double layered stone porch wall inside and out.

Though, some rolling stock and a couple of Walthers FA locos were thrown to the floor, there was only one real victim.
Those members that have been here long enough, might remember the cross country tour that Ol' Blue took.
Looks like Ol' Blue hit the floor, then one of Better-Halfs ceramic houses landed on Ol' Blue. On advice of my insurance company, I can't move anything til the adjuster comes. Looks like Ol' Blue took an edge hit to the mid section. He is unrepairable.
May he rest in peace.

Well, there ya go........

The Gauge is gone... We're now Zealot and now the Gauge World Tour Car is gone too...... We still have the pictures (When the gallery comes back up) This was the HO one right?? We still have the N gauge one, it didnt travel as far, but it still traveled......

Back to the real world.... No - Don't touch Anything!!!!! Take 200 pictures from every angle - of every thing that was even slightly damaged.... His insurance company will pay everything... But you cant cast any doubts on "was this really damaged by the impact"????

.................. or did you drop it a week before and lay it in the picture today?????

The better your pics show details the better your chances of making a good settlement.....

Everyone makes mistakes, and it is hard to look at it that way when it's "your house and your stuff" that was damaged, but it was an accident......

Hopefully he wasn't injured... You can always repair the house and buy more stuff .....

Let us know what comes out of this..... Best of Luck!!!!

'Ol blue is quite repairable. PM me 88fan, perhaps it can go through a rebuilding program at my shops? :) (This is a serious request)

at least the kid did not open the car door and steped into the middle of your living room...... my mom and dad had a house that they rented out, it got hit by a kid, the whole dang car was in the living room !

Yeah - you see that more and more today :( It must be the sheer numbers of young drivers... and also aggressive drivers :( :( Hope no one was hurt..

Well, the downside is the insurance company can't really compensate you for the time involved in the layout. But on the other hand, most of the damage to the house doesn't look to bad. Especially not for a house that was just struck by a moving vehicle.

*takes a look at the picture*

You're joking, right? from what the picture shows, all the damage visible is that the door was ripped off. That can be repaired easily. What other damage is there? the car is no bending inwards from a house hitting the car (now THERE'S something you don't see everyday, an agressive housesign1)? Simply that can be fixed. Send it to Miles, let's keep 'ol Blue alive folks!

Plus, judging from the track damage, this is why plexiglass protecting boards are there folks, to keep EVERYTHING on the layout, trains AND structures! :D
