Hello and welcome, Bob. Looks like we share several of the same passions. I, like you have not gone digital yet with the camera thing. I have two perfectly good Pentax film cameras that I don't use so I'm having a hard ime justifying a digital.

Thanks to all for the great welcome aboard!

I fell in love with HO scale, am currently experimenting, looking for the right technique before I begin construction, so far all efforts have proven quite promising.

I did Genealogy for sixteen years until the bug bit became full blown and the fever infected me full time, spent the last four years living and breathing it 24 x 7 x 12 etc...
Should you, (All) have a problem or have run up against a stone wall as to how to proceed with your research, I'll be more than happy to help, so don't hesitate to ask..

I feel that digital photography is a cop-out, the whole creation of same is just too easy,.
The only good thing about it pertains to the fact that you can see the picture at its inception should you not like it, erase it and re shoot same.

When I saw the Cannon rebel advertised on TV it stirred old feelings for my first love, it not only shows the picture but you get to use all those fantastic lenses that you bought and have stored in mothballs,.
Once again you can begin to experiment with how you want to set up the shot. Have to start scraping my pennies together to acquire same.

Again thanks to all for the great welcome!

Bob.

I felt the same way about digital until I met a friend from Uganda who had been reading Hot Rod Magazine and other American car mags, but had never seen any real street rods. I took him to San Bernardino to the annual route 66 rendevous. They block off a 6 block by 6 block section of downtown San Bernardino and park 2500 cars there, with a lane around the area that is coned off for open header cruising. I shot 12 rolls of 35mm film. When I started paying for the processing, I decided to go digital!

Hey Bob glad you found the place. I have to agree with you and Russ digital is the way to go. I have been active in photography in some way all my life. Both professionally and not. I prefer the not, at this point. Went the whole 9 yards. The zone system for metering, B/W, large format, darkroom both color and b/w and my favorite seeing in "my minds eye". Yes, it was a good time in my early years. But now making good photographs is what it’s all about. And probably model rr and this forum. See ya around.
