I have used Prodigy Express on my layout for a year, and now decided to add another Prodigy Express walkaround. I got the new walkaround yesterday and tried it out last night. Things did not work very well. When I added the second walkaround my old walkaround did not work properly. When I wanted to stop the loco, it did not stop, but continued on for a period of time. When I wanted it to go, it took a long period of time before it started to move. A friend of mine just purchased a new Prodigy Express system so we tried his walkaround, but the same thing happened when we had two walkarounds connected to the layout. We tried his walkaround and my new one, but things worked the same as it did with my old walkaround and my new one. Everything works fine with just one walkaround. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why I can't use two walkarounds at the same time and have both of them functioning properly? Is there anyone on the gauge who uses Prodigy Express with two walkarounds? I would like to hear from you.

Mannix:wav: , there is NOTHING wrong with ANY PART of your system:winki: . i bet dollars to donunts you didnt program one of the cabs as "Cab #2" :winki: . on Prodigy Advance, Prodigy Advance 2 and Prodigy Express, to run MORE THEN ONE CAB you have to set the others up as "cab #2 , cab #3, etc. by doing this it will solve your problem:thumb: . i am 99.9% sure of this because i had to do the same, and the symtoms were EXACTLY as you have described:winki: .

to set up a controller as "cab #2" , on the cab you will use the least hit the SYS button, now hit the #6 button, now on the screen it will say CAB 2 , now go ahead and hit the ENTER button...THATS IT! , your problem SHOULD be solved!!!!:thumb: HOPE THAT HELPS:smilie:

sign1 OK, OK, I GOT IT!!! :thumb:

HERES WHAT YOU DO:
On the cab you will use THE LEAST, unplug it from the cord, now turn the power on to the system, press and HOLD the #6 button down and while doing this plug the cord back into the cab, now on your screen it will say: "CAB" and have 3 dash's under it, let go of the #6 button, now hit button #2 and then ENTER...TA DA!!! THATS IT!!:thumb: PROBLEM SOLVED!!!:eeki:

I KNOW THIS WILL WORK as i have JUST TRIED IT:thumb: .
I hope this has helped:winki:  .

sign1 NO Josh, I'm not hyper today:toug:  , but i have been answering a few Prodigy questions this week on the forums here, and in PM's, so i had my MRC Prodigy Advance and Express books out already:winki: , ended up not having to check anywhere else:thumb: . it took me over an hour the other day to find and dig out my Prodigy Express cab so i could answer another question, i was smart and left it out, good thing, it helped today!:thumb:

As far as DCC systems go, i have Prodigy Advance setup on dads layout, and here on mine i just use the Prodigy Express, WITH an ADVANCE controller:thumb: , this way, there isn't anything that i cant do:winki: (well, that i want to do anyways:toug: ). i am TOTALLY HAPPY with the PRODIGY systems:thumb: , i am big on sound, so having 19 different sound options on my Advance Cab works out GREAT for me:thumb: (28 different options on the NEW Advance2 cab:eeki: ). i have NEXT TO NEVER used the program track, i program it all right on the mainline, NO PROBLEM. CV's are a breeze, oh heck, i like it all:119: .

HOWEVER, MRC systems might NOT be the system for YOU:confused: . if you wanted to do computer interface with the system Digitraxx might suit you better:winki: . there are MANY things to consider when buying a system, its best to decide what you plan on doing with it in the next 5-10yrs and figure out what is the most important things you want out of your system:winki: . figuring out the answers to questions like i have mentioned will steer you to the RIGHT SYSTEM FOR YOU:winki: . think ahead, and DO THE HOMEWORK, what is the "perfect" system for one guy, could be TOTALLY WRONG for the next guy:winki: .

Deano,
Thank you so much for solving my problem. I programed the walkaround as you told me and now both of the walkarounds work perfectly. My son and grand kids are coming for a visit on Thursday so I wanted to have the two walkarounds working so we can do some railroading. Thanks again.

Deano,
Do you have a special book on Prodigy Express other than the information that came with the unit? If there is a Prodigy Express book, where can I get one?
