Ya clean up the handrails with a fresh Exacto blade ,install some dummy knuckle couplers weather the h*ll out of them ( they are SP afterall) then put them in your deadline with some Model Power or Lifelike & Bachmann clunkers.(this is not a dig at either maker their bad ones are just cheaper to buy)

Or put them on Ebay as rare collectables at a $10.00 starting bid and wonder why people are actually bidding on them.

I think you'd do better if you also say that you found them in your great-grandfather's attic this way and upped the starting bid to $50..

I had one of these things that I tried to modify for my 4 year old to play with. I found it in a garbage box at the club a while ago. The first thing I did was took out the dremel tool and modified the undercarriage so the trucks would swivel enough so he could push it around the curves. Then, we discovered that the couplers were pretty much useless and you could not hook ANYTHING up to it. I tried to find it just now so I could take a picture for ya'll but couldn't. My guess is it found its way to the trash can (again).

Looks like that was a fun project. Ever since I pulled mine out of the box for the picture above, it's been sitting in my yard. It looks okay from a distance but it could use a little of that TLC that you've given yours!

I have one of those that I keep as a decoration, on top of the TV sitting on a small length of straight track.
